• A partner with Cooper Levenson, Steven Scherzer joined the firm in 1988. With over 25 years of experience, he now concentrates his practice in Commercial Litigation (including real estate law, partnership and corporate law), Probate Law (contested probate actions, will contests, trustees and estates) and Condominium Law (handling, among other issues, property, vendor and resident disputes). Currently, Steve represents the largest high-end residential complex of its type on the east coast.

  Another significant area of his practice continues to be Land Use. Two of his most interesting projects concerned the conversion of perhaps the oldest house in Atlantic County, New Jersey (reportedly a safe house along the Underground Railroad in the period before the American Civil War) from a residence to a professional office and the preservation of an historic lifesaving station in Ocean City, New Jersey. Working with a number of local and regional developers, he has handled planning and zoning matters for a number of complexes (ranging from several hundred to several thousand unit sites).

  A graduate of the University of Rochester (B.A., 1972), and Rutgers University School of Law - Camden (J.D., cum laude, 1975), he was admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania in 1975 and in New Jersey in 1976. Steve served as Solicitor and Prosecutor in the city of Sea Isle City in 1982 and 1983, and was co-author of: "Commercial Litigation in New Jersey," published by Law Practice Handbooks, Inc.

  Currently, Steve is a member of the Atlantic County, Cape May County and New Jersey State Bar Associations. Steve is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Steve's work in the local community also includes serving as Chairman of the Jewish Community Relations Council from 1996-1998, and as President of Congregation Beth Judah from June of 1999 through June of 2001.
