    Walter is of counsel to the firm and a member of the Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Section.? Walter joined the firm in 2011 after having practiced law in San Angelo, Texas for 25 years.? ?Although he now concentrates more in the area of oil and gas law, he is experienced in many areas of law and is Board Certified in Farm and Ranch Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Prior to entering the practice of law, Walter?was in the ranching business.? Today, influenced by his experience and education, he continues to have a passion for the land and?its resources.?

    AREAS OF CONCENTRATION

    Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law

    Walter's practice includes representing both oil companies and individuals in?oil and gas matters.? Presently a large portion of his practice is devoted to examining titles for drilling, division order and acquisition purposes.? He also represents clients in leasing mineral rights, drafting oil and gas transactional documents, and handling surface and subsurface issues including pipeline, road and transmission line easements.? From 2009 to 2011 he devoted a substantial amount of time to representing landowners throughout the State of Texas in adjudicating routes for high voltage wind energy transmission lines.?

    Real Estate Law

    With over 25 years of experience in handling a wide range of both commercial and ranch real estate matters, Walter often represents clients in purchase, sales and financing transactions.??He especially enjoys handling?complex ranch transactions, partitions and other matters which involve unique legal problems associated with surface, mineral, water and wind rights. Walter also assists the firm's estate planning attorneys in real estate matters.

    Water Law

    As water rights become more?valuable, clients?often seek?Walter's counsel?about water law issues, especially as they relate to surface and mineral rights. Having been born?in Sutton County during the drought of the 1950s, this area of the law has special interest to him.
