Melanie Smith's areas of practice focus primarily on insurance coverage disputes and defense litigation, including premises liability, commercial auto, personal auto, construction accidents, construction defects, equine law, labor and employment, toxic torts, and breach of contract matters. Ms. Smith also has experience in transactional matters and corporate formation.
Her insurance coverage practice primarily consists of defending insurance companies against bad faith claims, as well as representing insurance companies in the prosecution and defense of declaratory relief, equitable contribution and subrogation actions.
Ms. Smith graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University in 1997. She received her J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California in 2003. ? Prevailed on a Writ of Mandate on behalf of client insurer. The Second District found that the trial court erred in denying insurer's motion to stay a default prove-up hearing pending insurer's appeal of the trial court's denial of its motion to intervene in the underlying construction defect suit against the insured.
? Represented commercial plumber in a pre-litigation claim brought relative to construction of a medical building. Successfully dissuaded building owner and tenant from filing lawsuit without payment of any kind by client.
? Defended major framing subcontractor in multiple construction defect matters, including ensuring the dismissal with prejudice of at least three dozen different residences by way of multiple successful summary judgment motions premised on the argument that the claims were barred due to foreclosure.
Insurance
? Represented insurers in coverage disputes, including first-party and third-party insurance coverage and bad faith claims.
? Summary judgment was granted in favor of client insurer in a case in which a general contractor of a large apartment complex filed a judgment creditor action, based on a default judgment obtained as a result of an arbitration award against the named insured. General contractor sought over $300,000 in satisfaction of the judgment, interest, and costs of suit, but was denied recovery on the basis that coverage was precluded pursuant to a "Development/New Construction Residential Exclusion."

I need to write a biographical introduction but I really dont know what it is. Can someone help me please. I need to know.

I think they should do backgroud checks & drug test before prescribing narcotics. I've seen felon pot heads, convicted drug dealers/users who have ligit prescriptions for drugs they would be buying on the street, if they dident have medicaid buying it for them. It bothers me how I can't do anything about druggies getting high for free by the goverment funded healthcare programs. Also, more then likely these people share it with other users, maybe even for profit.
