    Reem Salahi graduated from Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall) in 2008.? Upon graduating, Reem worked in the Immigrants’ Rights and National Security Project at the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California (ACLU-SC) primarily on the habeas suit of Naji Hamdan, a U.S. citizen of Arab descent, who was forcibly disappeared, tortured and held in criminal detention in the United Arab Emirates at the behest of the United States for two years.? Starting in 2010, Reem started working with civil rights lawyer, Carol Sobel.? She has represented dozens of Muslims and people of Middle Eastern descent in their FBI, CIA, CBP, ICE and other law enforcement interviews, who were targets of governmental surveillance based on their religious or ethnic identities.? She also represented mosques that faced hostility and discrimination in their attempts to build or expand and was cooperating counsel in the ACLU's No Fly list lawsuit.?? Reem was lead counsel in the administrative proceedings of the eleven UC Irvine and UC Riverside students, commonly dubbed “Irvine 11”, who were prosecuted for protesting Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren.? Reem continues to represent the students as an associate at Hadsell Stormer Richardson & Renick, LLP in their criminal proceedings.? In 2011, Reem received the National Lawyers Guild award for her defense of the Irvine 11 and the Muslim community at large.?
