  • From its roots in the Gulf Coast of Texas where it has represented workers exposed to the toxic hazards of the petrochemical industry, the Provost Umphrey Law Firm, L.L.P. has grown to become one of the nation's most successful plaintiff's law firms.

Today the firm represents clients in litigation ranging from toxic chemical exposures to large scale antitrust and consumer class actions. Provost Umphrey is one of the few firms in the United States that has the ability to represent its clients on either an individual or a class basis while providing the necessary resources to fund and staff the cases on a contingency basis.

The firm and its founding partner, Walter Umphrey, have twice been recognized in Forbes Magazine's review of the nation's most successful trial lawyers. In addition, firm attorneys have won numerous awards including ratings as one of the "best lawyers in America," the International Who's Who of Professionals, Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Outstanding Young Lawyer Award, Who's Who in American Law, Legal Pro Bono Programs as well as numerous other accolades.

Counted among the firm's attorneys are a former federal court judge, a former Texas State Court Judge, and a former president of an international labor union. Provost Umphrey counsel have lectured at colleges and universities, testified before committees of the United States Senate and House of Representatives and received appointments by elected officials including the President of the United States and the Governor of Texas

The firm's client base has included an array of clients from workers to large municipal and state governments. For example, the firm served as lead counsel to the State of Texas in its landmark $23 billion recovery of damages from the Tobacco industry.

On behalf of its clients, Provost Umphrey regularly records settlements and or verdicts in multi-million dollar range.

Beyond its abilities to represent workers in large scale catastrophic industrial accidents, Provost Umphrey coordinates - in conjunction with some of the nation's most progressive unions - programs to screen workers for injuries related to exposure to asbestos, silica sand, benzene and other toxics.

In addition to experienced trial counsel, the firm brings to the table a vast array of resources including more than 300 support staff, and offices across the country. The firm maintains a heliport atop its Beaumont, Texas offices and a hangar for its aircraft at the Jefferson County, Texas airport. The firm's Citation Jet allows firm attorneys and staff to reach industrial accidents within hours of their occurrence.

I am applying for a modeling job at Ralph Lauren, and need some help with my cover letter. On wiki, it says to show how you learned about the position, but all I did was research! This is my cover letter so far (please note, I'm only 13):. I am writing to apply for a modeling job at your corporate services. [I am interested in your clothing company, and learned about this position from research on how to become a model for Ralph Lauren Polo Company.] << (Help!). I have attended several classes on Runway, Photographic, Cosmetics & Hair Care, and Television modeling. These helped me to become more confident, poised, and outgoing, which are characteristics essential to any job. . My resume is enclosed along with my modeling comp-card and photos. Please contact me if you are interested in scheduling an interview. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I'm a modern 21st century gal and am a firm believer in people keeping their own names at marriage, unless BOTH parties decide to change their names together (thus signifying equality). I also happen to believe kids shouldn't necessarily get just their father's name just because of an archaic tradition - they should get both parents' names. I did know of one Air Force guy in my office who changed his name to his wife's, mainly because she's the last in her line. They've divorced since, and he changed his name back to his original.. . Thank you for your fiance's service. I happen to serve part-time in the Navy Reserve.

I am doing a project. Its supposed to be a digital newspaper and i'm searching for some newspaper templates for word. Thanks.

I could just write a plain letter, but because I am a bit OCD, I would like to know how to formally write this letter, which I have never done before. Should I write a business letter or...?.

Remember, the goal is to rent the space and make some money...if you hit them with an unreasonable contract...they might say screw it. You decide what's important. If they are 100% stuck...then you hold the stick and can ask what you will and they will go for it...assuming you're being somewhat reasonable. Be fair and they'll come back.... . good luck.. . worst case scenario get a Real estate agent. It'll cost ya but you'll be covered.
