  • Most people have never worked with an attorney...I can help guide you through the process.

I have practiced law for more than 25 years, and focus my practice on legal matters facing all kinds of families in central Ohio. A 1984 graduate of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, I am Certified as a Specialist in Ohio Family Relations Law.

I work with clients who face DIVORCE or DISSOLUTION, who are working out CUSTODY or PARENTING ISSUES, or who need help with drafting WILLS and other PERSONAL PLANNING DOCUMENTS, or buying a new home.

Service to families, whether traditional or non-traditional, is the major focus of my work. I pioneered legal planning for unmarried couples in Ohio, particularly couples with children, including GLBT clients. I was awarded the Stoney Award by Stonewall Union for my work establishing shared custody as a legal option for protecting relationships between children and both of their unmarried and LGBT parents. I am a frequent invited speaker to professional and community organizations on the legal challenges unique to non-traditional families and options for solving those challenges.

When it comes to protecting your family, EXPERIENCE IS CRITICAL. I believe I have the experience to represent your unique needs.

I like to make our meetings as comfortable and convenient for you as possible - we can meet in my conference room, or at your home or office.

Located in Bexley, Ohio and serving clients throughout Columbus, Ohio, central Ohio, Franklin County and surrounding counties, Carol Ann Fey, Attorney & Counselor at Law has been representing family law clients for thirty years. Attorney Fey is an excellent and experienced advocate for any client who needs assistance with family law, divorce, dissolution, collaborative family law, LGBT family law, establishment of shared legal custody for LGBT parents, protecting non-traditional families, break-up or termination of LGBT partnerships and families, preparing wills, health care powers of attorney and living wills, and other personal planning.

Central Ohio Family Law Certified Specialist

As a Certified Specialist in Ohio Family Relations Law, Attorney Fey is among a select group of attorneys in Ohio who have undergone the rigorous examination, additional continuing legal education, and peer review required to attain that status. Out of the thousands of family law attorneys in Ohio, and several hundred family law attorneys who practice in Columbus, only about 100 have qualified for recognition as a Certified Specialist statewide, and only about fifty in Columbus. Carol Ann Fey's Certification as a Specialist in Ohio Family Relations Law is clear indication of her commitment to excellence in her work with clients. Ms. Fey brings that same high level of commitment to her work with nontraditional, same-sex, or LGBT clients and families.

Family Law With A Collaborative And Respectful Philosophy

There are many kinds of families, and Carol Ann Fey respects and works with all family structures, whether her client is in a traditional marriage or a relationship with a partner. Attorney Fey works with clients on issues of divorce, dissolution, custody, child support, spousal support (alimony), shared parenting, and shared custody. Attorney Fey practices an approach to family law that focuses on the dignity of divorcing spouses, respect for her client regardless of their family structure, and on sincere evaluation of the best interests of their children no matter who their parents may be.

Despite Ohio's failure to recognize marriages of LGBT partners, Carol Ann Fey brings understanding and respect to all legal issues affecting LGBT couples and their children, including the establishment of shared same-sex custody and, when needed, assisting in the process of ending these relationships. Attorney Fey has the up-to-date knowledge and breadth of experience to assist in same-sex divorces as well.

Trials are not only expensive in dollars - they take a huge emotional toll on the adults and their children, too. Litigation is not the only way to end a marriage or relationship, and Attorney Fey has the skill and expertise to help you explore other more cost effective alternatives such as negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law.

A power of attorney (POA) or letter of attorney in common law systems or mandate in civil law systems is an authorization to act on someone else's behalf in a legal or business matter. The person authorizing the other to act is the principal or granter (of the power), and the one authorized to act is the agent or attorney-in-fact

It is no different than a regular reference letter.

I had medical expenses from 2007 that went into collections. In 2008 an attorney had my medical bills and I paid them off with him. Can I claim that amount on my taxes as medical expenses?.

Hi, I had just open a small company as contractor for general works like home/ office renovation. Will like to know if once the renovation works are done, are we required to let our clients sign on any form to show that the job is done so as to avoid any disagreement in the future.. If it is necessary, will appreciate if anyone can show me the template/ sample as I had sourced through the internet but can't find anything suitable. I managed to find a couple of them but are quite complicated and detailed which I think might not be suitable for a small company like mine... Thank you...
