It's always good form to do some research on the company and determine what their business model is. Generally, a cover letter is a brief introduction to you and your work history. As I just mentioned, it also includes some information about why you would be the best candidate for the job. Show some enthusiasm here. You really want this job, so tell them you are "excited to hear about" this open position.
