  • Becker, Kellogg & Berry, P.C., an AV rated law firm with offices in Springfield and McLean, Virginia, provides legal services in the areas of corporate, family law, personal injury, premises liability, taxation, estate planning, real estate and business torts. More specifically, the firm's experienced practitioners handle matters involving commercial and general litigation and appeals; family law; the establishment of corporations and other business entities; business tort litigation; the purchase and sale of businesses; domestic trade and finance; employment law; commercial real estate loans and transactions; landlord/tenant; trusts, estates and probate; federal income and estate taxation; estate planning; consumer rights; and construction law. The firm's primary office in Springfield, Virginia, is convenient to Backlick Road's intersections with Braddock and Edsall Roads, providing easy access to Northern Virginia's principal arteries, including I-395 and I-66, as well as I-95 and I-495 (the Capital Beltway). With a second office in McLean, Virginia, Becker, Kellogg & Berry, P.C. is proximate to Northern Virginia's business communities, hotels and airports, and to all federal and state courts in the area.

Nearly two-thirds of the firm's practice is litigation avoidance-oriented, often upon referral from or in conjunction with firms or attorneys from outside the metropolitan area. The firm's litigation practice includes a broad spectrum of trial and appellate cases, and its litigators appear routinely before federal and state courts throughout the area and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Aside from the trial or appeal of client cases, the firm's attorneys advise and represent witnesses, potential witnesses, subjects and targets in Grand Jury and other governmental investigative proceedings; provide counsel in family matters, and on general business issues; negotiate and draft contracts and other business arrangements; handle corporate transactions such as the purchase and sale of a business or of real or personal property; provide advice and assistance in matters of corporate structuring, personnel, employee relations and policies, finance, and fiscal controls; provide advice and assistance in probate, trust, federal income and estate taxation matters, as well as estate planning; provide corporate evaluations; and coordination with accountants and other professionals to fully service client needs.

Although our principal geographic area of practice is within the Northern Virginia court system, the firm's practice is also regional in character. All of the firm's attorneys are admitted to practice in one or more of the Washington area jurisdictions of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland, and the related federal district and circuit courts and administrative tribunals (as well as the State of Florida). The firm represents a wide variety of local businesses and individual clients and is not dependent upon a single client or group of common interest clients.

Becker, Kellogg & Berry's reputation has been built on the reputation of its trial lawyers and the outstanding quality of its services, and its ability to provide the technical and practical expertise, while remaining cost-effective and responsive. Our ability to serve our clients' needs is enhanced by our commitment to the advancing technology of the times. We may be reached through the Internet at our website address: http://www.beckerkelloggberry.com, and individual attorneys are available by cell phone, e-mail and voice mail. The firm maintains a substantial library featuring CD-ROM and computerized research capabilities. Our attorneys have published law-related articles in business periodicals; have lectured on business issues at a local university's Small Business Development Center; and have lectured in continuing legal education seminars.

In an effort to personalize relationships between firm and client, Becker, Kellogg & Berry routinely assigns an attorney to each client based upon that client's present and anticipated needs. The assignment of a particular client to a responsible attorney provides the client with an attorney with whom he or she can communicate effectively, and assists us in discharging our responsibility to endeavor to keep our fees and costs in line with the benefits our services are expected to produce. In addition, the firm's top flight staff is proactive in familiarizing itself with the firm's clients and client needs, and is active in assisting in providing client satisfaction.

Do Newly Married Wives Keep Their Maiden Names or Change To Their Husband's Today?

Will and Revocable Trust?

I have 3 daughters that have my last name (That is the way me and my ex husband wanted it) I am getting remarried and changing my last name. They want their names changed too. I dont want to take their dads rights away I just want my whole family to have the same last name. I live in michigan, Is there a way to do that without their dads permission considering they dont have his last name anyway?. He is not on the oldest daughters birth certificate but he is on the younger 2. It seems like it would be so easy just becaue Im not asking for his rights to be stripped, just a different last name that he doesnt share with them anyway.

Why do I need to sign power of attorney?
