I'm sorry for your impending loss. Having been throughh this with both my parents, I know it's not an easy thing to deal with, even when you know it's coming.. . Just some thoughts:. . Is there a resstaurant that your dad really loves? Does that restaurant have a banquet room that you could rent for the celebration? That way you could be in a separate room with your family and friends.. . As for what to do, there again, are there any favorite songs or types of music that you could have playing? Do you have pictures that could be put on a computer for a slide show to run during the celebration?. . Arrange to have several people share special memories of your dad. It's really cool to get different people's perspectives of what they found memorable--at my dad's funeral, one of our neighbors stood up and said she will always remember my dad walking the cat on a leash.. . I don't know how scattering ashes works. There may be some kind of restrictions about that. I'd check with local funeral directors or the place that does the cremation. They would be able to tell you what's allowed or not allowed.. . Again, I'm sorry for your coming loss. Hope these suggestions help.
