How do I change my name on my social security card?

Hi Jess, I just got married last Saturday (congrats to you) and I'm in the process of changing my papers too. It's a lot of paperwork, but it's also a lot of fun! You won't believe how easy it is to 'assume' a new name without having to show proof. To change my social security card I just had to go to the local administration office and change it, no charge, but I did have to bring in the ORIGINAL marriage license, they won't accept a copy. The card will arrive in 7-10 days but in the mean time I was given a receipt that shows I went and shows my new name. I used that receipt to change my information at work with HR and Payroll and that changed my email address, etc. For my driver's license, I'm waiting until I move since I'll soon have a new address anyway. But that can all be done either by going to your local DMV or messenger service where you'll receive a new license the same day with your new information. For the bank, I'm sure you'll have to take your marriage license and social security receipt with you to make those changes. I would put the business in your married name too, so everything is legal and accurate. Those are the things I'm doing in my state - Pennsylvania - but you should check with the Register of Wills in your state to find out the correct procedures for name changing. I found a lot of information on my county's website, so try checking that too. Good luck and congrats again!

I'm writing my CV (curriculum vitae) for a specific position I'm applying for. It has strong ties to politics and community organizations/causes. I have a LOT to put down, but have never done a CV for this type of job app before. I was thinking of listing the following:. . Skills. Career History. Education. Community Activism & Supported Causes. Political Background. References (??). . Is there anything else I should include? Anything I should take out?? And is that order appropriate? I want to start off strong and finish strong so I leave a great impression. I've found some basic CV templates online, but as I said, this is for a very specific type of job. Hello,. . I have an evaluation that over the course of the year 175 students will fill out. I have Microsoft office suite 2007 (including InfoPath, Access, Excel, Word, OneNote, basically everything!) I really would like to create a form (like one on InfoPath) that I could fill out as I get these evaluations in. Then I would like this data to be saved and be able to sort/filter/query it (like on Access)... HELP! I have been working on trying to figure this out and am completely frustrated!. . Thanks,. . I've never seen it work. There is no quick fix for substance abuse, and there is no one single cause for it, so there's no one cure that fixes everyone. "Tough love" doesn't work. As an addict gets older, there's a greater chance of remission, meaning quitting altogether. Addicts and alcoholics act like children, and they should be treated accordingly. You will likely have to do something about this rather than leaving it to your parents or the government. Make sure that he understands that he can live there as long as he doesn't drink or bring drugs in the house. If he does, throw him out until he sobers up. Ignore his whining, apologies, and feelings. Pour out his liquor and beer, and flush his drugs down the toilet. Get some pepper spray and use it. If you are aggressive, he will either quit or leave. He's gotten used to getting his way, and that has to come to an end. Do not trust anyone who can tell you that they can take care of the problem. They can't. He's family, and you should take care of it yourselves.. . I used to drink a lot and abuse drugs. I've been in jail, but only for misdemeanors, not felonies. I don't drink anymore because as a diabetic, I can't. I don't use addictive or illegal drugs anymore because treating the diabetes fixes the symptoms I was self-medicating for, such as pain and anxiety. I wish it were that easy for everyone. I do not "smoke weed occasionally," nor do I go to Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. I recommend against 12-step groups because they are religious, and I know that sitting around talking about drinking and drugs is more likely to make someone want to use than not to use.. . He needs to be removed from his habits as much as possible. He needs to get some time experiencing things without being high or drunk. Give him a year. Don't tell him he has a year, just keep that amount of time to yourself. If he doesn't get better in a year, let the state take care of him. If he really doesn't get better, it's possible to have him committed to a state hospital, but use that as a last resort. You'll also have to speak with a psychiatrist and probably a lawyer to make sure he is committed and to figure out a way he won't be released, ever.. . My mother never gave up on me, and now I'm better. It would be nice if that worked for everyone.. . Addendum: You could have him sign a medical power of attorney document as a condition of living with your parents. It shouldn't be hard to convince him that it's better to sign than be thrown out in the cold. It may be a good idea to make up a lease document that allows him to live with your parents as long as he does not bring in alcohol, drugs, or come home drunk. There is middle ground between being totally accommodating to his every whim and citing "tough love" to throw him out and forget he ever lived.
