  • For over 15 years, Jeffrey Zimmerman has devoted his career to providing vigorous representation for individuals facing a broad range of criminal charges. A member of the Virginia and District of Columbia bars, his practice is focused in federal and state courts in the Washington, DC metropolitan area at both the trial and appellate levels.

Mr. Zimmerman has a strong track record of earning favorable dispositions for clients, including acquittals, dismissals, and significantly reduced charges and sentences. He believes in getting out in front of any investigation or criminal matter and aggressively seeking to cut off potential prosecutions prior to arrest and formal charge. He counsels individuals who are under investigation by police or federal law enforcement, as well as those who have been subpoenaed to testify before grand juries.

Mr. Zimmerman provides zealous representation at all stages of a criminal investigation and prosecution. An experienced trial litigator, he has been lead counsel in hundreds of?state and federal criminal cases?from serious traffic matters to death penalty cases. Recently, Mr. Zimmerman obtained an acquittal for a client in a complex multi-defendant mortgage fraud case brought in the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia.

In addition to serving as trial counsel, Mr. Zimmerman's practice includes a significant focus on post-conviction litigation, including alleged probation and supervised release violations. Recent victories include the dismissal of a federal supervised release violation petition on double jeopardy grounds. Jeffrey Zimmerman is also an accomplished appellate attorney, successfully arguing before state and federal appellate courts, resulting in reversed convictions and lower sentences. Finally, Mr. Zimmerman fights for individuals by collaterally attacking their convictions and sentences through habeas corpus proceedings and motions filed pursuant to 28 United States Code § 2255. Working with his partner, David B. Smith, on a comprehensive, nearly 200-page § 2255 motion, Messrs. Smith and Zimmerman obtained reversals of numerous convictions for money laundering, structuring, and obstruction of justice on behalf of a client in federal district court in Richmond. Mr. Zimmerman has been named in the list of preeminent lawyers in the field of criminal defense by Virginia Super Lawyers (2012).

Mr. Zimmerman serves as a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is actively involved in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the preeminent organization for the criminal defense bar.

Mr. Zimmerman received his bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and graduated with honors from The American University, Washington College at Law. While in law school, he served on the executive editorial board of, and was published in, The American University Journal of International Law and Policy. Following graduation, he served as Adjunct Faculty at American University, teaching courses in legal research and writing.

Jeffrey Zimmerman embraces technology and social media. His reflections of the impact of social media on criminal defense practice and litigation can be found at his blog, Credible Alibi. You can connect with Mr. Zimmerman on Facebook and LinkedIn, or follow him on Twitter.

Dear Hiring Manager,. . Nowadays when you think Apple, you don't think of the fruit that grows on trees, but the driving force and pinnacle of technology

I have no clue how to get started. My husband is in AIT right now. He graduates in a week. He hasn't gotten his official orders yet but we are going to be stationed in Bamburg Germany so far his report date is July 24th. I don't know how to get our kids and myself a passport but I know I am way over due to get one. I don't know who to contact about moving our things. I don't know who to contact about housing or how the heck we are gonna get there in the first place. I have asked a few more experienced military spouses but they didn't help me much. What numbers do I call? What do I need to be doing now? What are the chances that I will have to travel separately from my husband? and what do I do to try to prevent deferred travel? I have never been out of kansas except for his BCT graduation and have never been on an airplane... I will deal with it if it has to happen but I REALLY don't want to travel alone on an airplane for the first time with my two small children I might loose my mind!!! Ok too much... Please help... I will appreciate anything.

Your debt is almost certainly "statute barred" which means that no legal action to recover it is possible. However, the agency that has now bought the debt is likely to continue to hassle you to encourage you to make payments until you take the correct measures to tell them to go away. If they do nothing more than send the occasional letter, then just ignore them (do not be tempted to call them, since then they will know they have found the right person and will probably get hold of your number as well, and then the hassle will increase considerably). If you want to stop them contacting you, then use Yahoo to search for the term "statute barred" and you will find a template letter telling a creditor that a debt is now unenforceable and so they should stop attempting to collect it. Send them a letter based on the template, but be very careful to follow the correct wording. If your letter admits that you really do owe the money, they could use that to start collecting the debt again.

I've seen a job that i'm interested in but all it says send "Applications in writing to" a name and address. Does this mean send a cv and covering letter which is what i'm planning to do or does it have to be hand written..

All Of my life i hear people tell me that i should be a model or am i a model. Its so hard to tell them that i am not one. I really want to be a model but my thing is i am always getting rejected. I don't know if its me or what. I am so confuse. I am tall skinny nd i know i look like a model. I really want to be a model that is my dream. I don't want it for the fame i want it for me that is something i know how to do. I cry because when i see Americas Next Top Model i feel like they are lucky because they have a chance. I get emotional when i see they winner also. I'm just so sad and i really want to be a model its so hard and i feel like crying when i see other teen model's i am sad on the inside..

A health care proxy allows someone else to make decisions about your medical care if you are unable to make those decisions yourself (like if you're in a coma after a car accident).. . A durable power of attorney allows someone else to sign legal documents for you and pay your bills if you are unable to do so. My husband, for instance, has a power of attorney for his elderly father (who is in assisted living), so that my husband can pay his medical bills, file his taxes for him, etc.
