This is a definate possibility with an SBA loan. Check in your area for what is called a preferred SBA lender. These local banks (or national) are much more efficient with SBA loans and can get you through the process with as little headache as possible. You will probably want to package the loan as if you are trying to purchase this business with significant owner financing. Your credit is excellent. The SBA is mainly concerned about cash flow. So if you have adequate experience in this industry, the burden of your financability will fall on the ability of the business to adequately cover debt service. Be ready to provide the bank with three years of tax returns and current P&L for the business, your resume, personal financial statement, and your own tax returns for review. Some banks will want to see business plans, others are not so picky. I would talk to an SBA loan officer and have this information ready to provide with a short write up on the business and what you plan to do. In closing, approach the bank with this as a business purchase, not a working capital loan...I think you'll have more success with that approach and using your own capital for the improvements needed. Hope this helps and good luck! (I am a business broker, so I've helped many people get these loans...you can definately get this done if the business is viable).

You can't be arrested for sending a letter to your mother. Just don't threaten to hurt her. Tell her you're disappointed in her as a mother and after all she has done it hasn't made you stoop to her level as you're a better person. Then don't bother with her again. After all you suffered as a child, are you going to let her drag you down in adulthood? She will probably write back to make excuses so you feel sorry for her and make you feel bad.

My grandmother is having surgery and in sound mind and capable of making decisions. We are doing a medical power of attorney in case she is not able to make decisions . My question is although we will have one person assigned is there any way we can make sure that the decison maker must consult more family members before the final decision is made..

no excuses. It makes you the bigger man. Plus you never know where your ex boss may show up again in your life. You will at least have garnered some respect from him. Maybe he will have something nice to say about you when your references will be checked.. The last thing you need to know is that when someone calls for references, they can only say so much. If they cost you the next job, you have the right to sue. They will only tell him absolute facts and figures but they can use intonation to let your next employer know they don't approve of you. If it is a large company.
