Deed poll? Changing my name and cost?

My wife?s grandfather is in hospice and will be passing on very soon. As part of his estate planning, he put my wife?s name on the deed to his house, titles to his vehicles and his bank accounts. . There is a will, and in it there are some family members who are named to receive specific amounts of money. In addition, we know of no creditors that would have a claim to any of his assets. My wife is named as the beneficiary for the remainder.. We live in Colorado and so does her grandfather. . My questions are

Probating a will means "proving" the will and opening an estate administration.. . You need to have an understanding of what assets were owned by the decedent at the time of his death. If your father-in-law and your mother-in-law owned everything in joint names (as most husbands and wives do) there is no need to probate the will. In that circumstance, everything goes to the surviving joint owner by operation of law. Many married couples own everything [house, car, bank accounts, stocks and bonds, mutual funds, etc.] jointly, so in a lot of cases the will is not probated. I married person who owns property as a joint owner with right of survival can't give his half of the property. An exception would exist with a different kind of joint property, and that would be property owned as a tenant-in-common.. . If your father-in-law owned land, stocks and bonds, mutual funds, apartment buildings, rare items of art, expensive jewelry, and other tangible or intangible property, then it would be necessary to probate the will. There is a presumption at law that if the house is jointly owned, that the contents of it -- furniture, dishes, posts and pans, etc. are jointly owned.

it todays mortgage crisis, good luck getting your payments reduced. You want someone to write your letter for you? Whatever happened to taking care of yourself? sorry to sound harsh, but the best place to find a helping hand is at the end of your own arm. That said, rather than trying to get out of your mortgage obligation, try increasing your income and i would avoid places like the above answerer suggested--if making money were that easy, everyone would be doing it. Places that offer quick easy ways to make money are mostly bogus. I'd be very wary as at some point, you will have to pay them money. Better try for a second, part time job, or, if possible, get a roommate to provide you with additional income. Clean out a garage and have a sale, that might work. Bottom line is, there are millions like you who are in big trouble and only you can get yourself out of it. Good luck and sorry i don't have easy cures--if i did (or anyone did) then there would be no debt, ever.
