I'm doing my taxes this year. I've had a tax atty. do them for the past 5 years, so I'm using his work as ....

If there is no will, he can petition the court to become personal representative and probate the estate under the laws on intestacy (death without a valid will, or rather the state has written a default will for your boyfriend's dad). . Powers of attorney cease upon death.. . Squabbling over estates brings out the worst in family relationships.. . A visit with an estate attorney should be high on your list.
