Why don't you just execute a limited Power of Attorney? That is, a POA just to take your place at the settlement and sign the documents for you. I did that when I lived in Rome and bought a house in the US. It was so easy. Try that. I live in Ireland now and it is very hard to find a Notary there. It is not like here where they are in banks and check cashing places. The closest notary to me, living in a small town in the West of Ireland, is forty-five minutes away by car. They are used very differently. I am a Notary in the US (PA) , but I cannot notarize when I am outside of my county

Attorneys are NOT notary publics simply by virtue of being admitted to the bar. Many attorneys are also notary publics, but this is not a hard and fast rule. For instance, I'm licensed as an attorney in two states, but I am not a notary public. I still have to have someone else notarize documents that require it.. . As to the second party of your question, for a "time of the essense letter", it will be sufficient that it comes from your attorney. It does not have to be notarized unless there is a special state law where you live - in which case your attorney will know about it.
