Litigation

Litigation

I previously attended San Jacinto Community College-South prior to transferring to U of H in fall 2010. My expectation for this particular class is to gain advanced technical writing skills and problem solving skills in writing form.. . As defined in the class syllabus, two of the outcomes of this Technical Communications course are to ?master technical writing forms? and ?use problem solving and systems thinking to inform writing.? I plan to accomplish both of these goals, as well as the rest before the semester ends. While attending San Jacinto Community College, I have successfully completed several English courses, including English Composition 1 and 2, which has provided me with good writing skills. These English courses have prepared me for this specific class.. . After completing my studies, I am planning to work as a foreign affairs officer for the US Department of State. One of the duties of this job is to have good technical writing skills and problem solving skills in order to write good and consistent memos to provide accurate information to US consulates on visa policy changes. Also, to resolve issues that might rise in the process of evaluating applications for visas and passports from the public. This course will help me to accomplish that..

I want to rent out a spare bedroom in my home. I have no idea how to write out an agreement/contract. The kid I want to rent it out to is a family friend. I was going to charge him $150 a month plus 50 for utilities of the telephone. I'm desperate and need it quickly. can anyone pleae help.

Changing Your Surname?

I'm of Jamaican + Honduran Heritage. My grandmother is from Honduras, & my grandfather from Jamaica. I'd like to change my last name to a more common Honduran surname. Most of my culture is based on my Jamaican background, seeing how most of my family members are Jamaican natives. Would that make me a hypocrite?.

Modeling tips? What to wear! (10 PTS. 5 STARS)?

This is kind of a complex question, but I can't find the answers anywhere.. . My husband's father (who lived in Florida - We live in Rhode Island) passed away this April. We are still going through probate right now, because we couldn't get down there to have it started until June.. . He didn't file his personal income taxes this year, we found all the stuff for them at the house. My husband's lawyer told us when we first met with her that the taxes was NOT something she would handle, and that it was up to Dave (my husband) to get done. She also told us that probate would most likely be ended in November, which is right after the creditor period ends, because Dave is the only beneficiary, and it is a pretty straightforward case.. . Dave was named the Personal Representative of the estate, but for some reason was not given control of his father's bank account. According to the lawyer, the judge wants the bank account to stay under the lawyer's control (even though Dave has to sign all the checks- but the lawyer HAS the checks, so every time she needs to pay someone, she sends a filled out check to Dave, who signs it and sends it back).. . She is now telling us that probate will most likely need to stay open through tax season (so the beginning of 2011) until the taxes for this current year are taken care of. But she still says that Dave is responsible for it. She has not released any money for him to do this, and from what I understand, we are not supposed to be financially responsible for his father's income tax. She asked him if he filed the 2009 ones yet, but won't give him money from the estate account to do so. Is this legal?? My husband thinks that she is just trying to milk him for money, since she claims it isn't her responsibility.. . Secondly, his father owned a home, paid off. We will be moving there as soon as possible. The house, obviously, is part of the estate, and part of probate, therefore the bills have been being paid on it (electric) from the estate account (yet she won't release any money for us to TAKE CARE of the house- both lawn mowers are broken and the grass is CRAZY high, we can't do anything about it because we have no money for a lawn mower). When Dave asked her if the estate would pay the insurance that is due in December (since she said probate would still be open then)m she said no because we will have to take ownership of the house before then (We are moving down in November) so that we can claim homestead exemption.. . I am QUITE confused about this. I though that you couldn't claim ownership of something that is still tied up in probate? We are wondering if the house is really NOT in probate, and she is just telling us it is so she can get 3% of what the property is worth as part of her fee (which at the beginning she told us she was charging us 1500 dollars as her fee, now she says she's charging us 3% of the estate- obviously more than 1500. And the contract we had signed with her isn't specific, it just says she's charging us according to FL law, which as I understand is 3% of the estate-that's the range we fall into- or a minimum of 1500).. . Does anyone on here know about this stuff, especially in FL? We really feel like she is playing with us to get more money. Thanks.. The reason we need money is he is going to end up owing a good amount of money to the IRS. He collected a LOT of money from his pension last year and only a very minute amount was withheld. On top of that, we were informed by his mother and his ex-wife that he usually pays a couple thousand every year.. . I am not a complete idiot, I realize that we wouldn't need money to file the taxes if he didn't owe. You don't need to treat me like I am stupid, but thanks.. And I know 2010's taxes can't be filed until next year- You apparently didn't read the part that said the lawyer told us probate would probably be open UNTIL EARLY NEXT YEAR so that this year's taxes could be handled..
