There are many financial and other advantages to marriage that will be conveyed to gays and lesbians at 5:01pm on Monday. These include inheritance preferences, tax preferences and medical rights. If these advantages are disconnected from traditional marriage, should they be denied to best friends, cousins, siblings and senior citizens who cohabitate as close friends without sex? What is the public policy basis for granting special tax rights and medical rights only to people engaging in sexual activity?. I am not criticizing gay marriage, actually, just wondering why we have any restrictions at all -- if two consenting adults want to link their fates with or without sexual motives why should they pay tax penalties or suffer medical indignities. I think the gay marriage question should make us consider be much more generous. If a father and son or an aged brother and sister want to share tax benefits or medical access that is fine with me.. Earth, my point is why not just confer the tax and legal benefits (you don't have to call it marriage) to any pair of consenting adults -- related or unrelated. At that point, the only reason to get married is spiritual. I have no problem with gay marriage, per se, just that if we are going down this road to make it fair why not make it fair for everyone and stop handing out benefits only to those who have (or act as if they are having) sex with one and other?.

What is a cover letter and who writes it for you?

I want to apply for a cashier position at Arbys, and I know that sending in an application letter along with a resume will make my application stand out more than other applicants who did not provide this. Only problem is that I don't know what to write!! I am only 16 and I don't have any other job or volunteering experiences that I could put on the letter or my resume.. . The job description I found in an ad said that You must treat others you work with as you would want to be treated and be able to do your job with a smile, and though I can do this with ease(I have a lots of patience and respect for others, even if they don't respect me), I don't have any concrete or solid evidence to back any of my claims up! I really want and need this job, and it's perfect for me!. . Can someone please help at least start my application letter??.
