A power of attorney is a document that gives a person the right to act for another person in a legal manner.. Say your grandmother, who is collecting a pension, becomes incapacitated and can no longer look after her own affairs. She forgets to pay the bills, and creditors are calling. The decision is...either put her in a home, let her live with you, or, allow her to live in her own home with in-home care. Well, if you choose option 3, then you'd also have to get a power of attorney...that SHE signs, giving YOU the right to choose her care giver, pay her bills, etc. But...You would pay the bills using HER money. You would be liable IF you used her money for YOURSELF, and neglected to pay her bills.... Now, if the family member has no money, and you know that...then thats different.....I'm not sure there. You may want to check with an attorney before signing.

My granddaughter recently moved and is starting a new job:) in a week. Unfortunately, she is unable to find the file with her social security card. To have a new card issued, she needs her birth certificate, and a legal document showing the change of her last name.. . She was born in Iowa, and we have copies of her original birth certificate. She was living in the state of Florida when her mother remarried and changed her daughter's last name. The year would have been either 1986 or '87. . We have contacted the Sanford County Court House and they connect us with the Health Department, Department of Vital Records. In turn, they say we need to contact the Department at the state level in Jacksonville. The woman in Jacksonville says they do not maintain any such records and to contact Sanford (Seminole County) again.. PLEASE, HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM OR HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO ACCOMPLISH THIS as the Social Security Card and her driver's license will be under the new name, not that on her birth certificate?.

She came in the night he got the Job and told her it is an ARKANSAS STATE LAW that he has to give her POWER of ATTORNEY. They have a VERY Rocky Marriage anyway., She has 4 kids and we suspect at least 3 of them are NOT HIS. Because of being able to figure back and her running around on him. Her and her Sister tried to hang him 2 years ago but he was drunk So he don't remember. So It worries me him Signing this paper. Is this Something he Really Needs to Do Of is it just her BS?. I have tried for 15 years to get him to kick her to the curb. She Is Now Messing with mine and my husbands Idenitity. I went in October and transfered our mail to aPO Box and she went to the Post Office and has our mail all F***** Up. We have not had mail since October. But she told my husband It is My fault so he will NOT file Identity Charges on her..
