    Would anyone happen to know where I could find a few?.

    Just ask everyone to call you by your new name.. . in the UK, you can call yourself whatever you want to (so long as it is not for fraud). . Your birth certficate remains whatever it was (always). . There is the Deed Poll procedure, . but that does not actually change your name ( a common misunderstanding). All it does is legally declare a new (extra) Alias name for a specific purpose and with a specific person/group of people. eg so that a Bank may put your name on account and know that if anyone asks, it is still the same person as on your B cert (with your parents name and your given name).. . The deed poll just shows a link to a 3rd name not already on the the document.. it is also not a public document - so only valid for the organisations named on it.. . If the surname that you wish to be known as, are on your B Cert (in either parents name), then it is totally down to you, to start being known as that name. You have a legal document that shows a link to that name.. Remember, the B Cert only lists your parents names and your Given (Christian) names, it is only habit and convention to use your fathers name. Same as marriage cert, no one forces either partner to use or not use the other persons name. You can remain with the same family name - and some countries that is the normal pattern. (china, Spain etc). . Just go to the school etc, and let them know that as of today, I wish to use my 'other' family name as my name.

    Long story short, my father died, my mother remarried and now I have my Step-dad's last name. I love my step dad, but I want my father's last name again. I hate when people hear the last name Anderson and think I'm Swedish. (Kind of weird considering I do not look Swedish.) I'm proud of being Slovak and that is one of the reasons I want to change my last name back to Rusnak. Now what I'm wondering is that will I always be known as Maria Anderson even if I change my name back to Rusnak? . And my sister told me that when I change my name I will now be known as Maria Ann Anderson Rusnak. Is that true?.
