The proper form is to put 1 space after a period when you are using a proportional font. Most fonts you use are proportional- each letter takes up a different space- a w takes more space than an i.. . If you use a mono-spaced font such as Courier New, use 2 spaces.. . However, if this is what you want, press Ctrl-H. Search for a period followed by 1 space (press the spacebar once) and replace it with a period followed by 2 spaces.

After the Civil War, free African Americans were subjected to Jim Crow laws in many states, and an evolving racism.

I have a hypenated last name (my mom and dads last name). . I want to get rid of part of my last name, my dads last name.

So I have been using my own last name for 15 years but I never legally changed it and so my birth certificate still says Walsh and my fianc? just got pregnant and I want to know if my kid will take my legal name or my chosen name. I have not changed it with the government because I do not have the $300 that is required. Me and my fianc? will be married by the time the kid is born we are planning the wedding for February 14.

Remember everyone has there own opinion: So with that being said...I personally think you shouldn't change your child's name. Why would you hyphen it when there's no need. Okay, what if you have other kids and you marry someone else and God forbid that doesn't work out are you going to hypen all of there names. I grew up following that the child should carry the father's last name. Granted everyone grow's up different but my gripe is why confuse the child when he or she get's older. Ex: Mom you and dad divorced and I have your last name and his...well your last name has changed because you married someone else and my brother's and sister's have one last name why do I have to be different. -Well son or daughter your dad and I thought it would be best for you to have both of our last names....Well okay but all of my friends have one last name and I want to be like them...I don't like how long my name is, I don't like that it's not like my brother's and sister's.. . Okay, that could be a converstation that you could possibly have later on in life with your child. But honestly if you have already decided to change it then no one here can make you change your mind. You don't need the okay from us...You are the parent and as you stated you are doing what's best for your child.. . I hope everything works out for the best and remember we all have our own opinions...Don't take it personal....
