• The Honorable Thaddeus G. McCotter served southeast Michigan as a United States Representative from 2003-2012. Universally, if often grudgingly, acknowledged as one of the smartest, most interesting members of Congress (granted, it’s a low bar), McCotter was twice elected by his colleagues to serve in leadership as the Chairman of the Republican House Policy Committee – at the time, the 4th highest ranking position in the GOP caucus. McCotter also variously served on the Foreign Affairs, Financial Services, Small Business, Budget and Joint Economic Committees.Prior to his Congressional tenure, McCotter who never lost an election, was elected to and served as a Republican Party Chair, Schoolcraft Community College Trustee, Wayne County Commissioner and State Senator. As a Power of Attorney for someone I would have to ask you, do you use it all the time and how? I mean if it is just precautionary and you are not really doing anything leave it be. or if you are paying her bills and things, they are probably still going to be your responsibility during her stay at your Brothers. My grandmother was in another State and I am her Power of Attorney. She payed her bills and took pretty much care of herself. Then she had problems and went into a home. That Power of Attorney allowed me to state were she went and how her care would be handled. It allowed me to make sure her interests were cared for. So a Power of Attorney should not be taken lightly. . Obviously you have reservations about transferring the authority to your Brother, or you wouldn't have asked the question. I wouldn't transfer it if the decision is up to you, if not it is your Mom's choice and support her the best you can.

I am trying to buy a house but processor said i have to pay off all collections and judgement on credit report. I went on experian today to dispute the items. My problem is, I have a judgment of 4995 from Atlantic on my report, but further reserach led me to the law office that filed it. I contacted them today and they say they will settle with me for 5k because it is now 6500. Should I pay off the settlement to the collector of the law office and receive a receipt or does escrow pay the courts directly? Also, if the judgment is only $4995 and the office tells me it is $6500 now, will they continue to pursue me for the remaining $1500 if we have escrow payoff the court? Does the escrow officer contact the court or do they contact the law office like I did and get the final balance due or do they pay what is reported which is only $4995. I would have called the escrow office for answers but they were closed by the time I got off with the law office and they are demanding the settlement in person for Monday morning, otherwise they will demand more. What is the best thing to do to make sure they don't screw me again because I was not properly served in the first place and they won by default. Rep from office threatened to order a Marchall to wipe out my bank account. These people are ruthless when I am voluntarily calling them to settle..
