  • Robert Sheridan is the quiet genius at the firm. Although a towering figure, he is most often found cloistered behind stacks of law books and volumes of research materials, pouring over legal opinions to form the foundation of some of the most complicated and precedent-setting cases. His calm, studied manner is a comforting sight in the frenetic pace of the office.? Mr. Sheridan has devoted his legal career exclusively to complex litigation and appellate law, which he taught for many years at DePaul College of Law in Chicago.?

Mr. Sheridan handles a number of the cases appealed by defense firms and insurance companies, including the appeal involving the highly-publicized case involving internationally-acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton who was severely injured in a train accident. Following a month-long trial, Robert Clifford obtained a $29.6 million verdict, but defense attorneys appealed, including immediately petitioning the Illinois Supreme Court on the issue of an alleged biased juror, an issue on which Clifford Law Offices prevailed. Mr. Sheridan also was instrumental in constructing successful novel arguments on behalf of a young girl who was assaulted in a Chicago housing project where it was alleged the Chicago Housing Authority was negligent in their failure to adequately patrol the area. Mr. Sheridan can frequently be found huddled with his colleagues, brainstorming on sensitive and complex legal-ethical issues.

Clifford Law Offices is proud to have Robert Sheridan as an invaluable resource.? His brilliant and creative arguments are widely respected in the profession.

So When I was born I was given the same name as my dad and Grand Father, But its my grand father that is the main person with the name, Now I hate this name, I was bullied in primary school for it and no one in secondary school knows it. So I want to change it, The problem is My Grand father passed last year so with it being ''His'' name I couldn't dis respect him like that.. So I thought I could change it to My grand fathers FIRST name, I like the name so I want to do that... . I'm just wondering if i'm doing the right thing here?.

My friend was on trial and I wanted to help him out. The court had placed him under my guardianship because him being disabled from a brain injury. His attorney asked me for some records that would help him defend my friend and get the cased dismissed against him. I turned over the records to the attorney, however the attorney made a copy and gave them to the Prosecutor and an IRS Agent. The IRS Agent did have anything to do with my friends case, but took the documents and charged me with several crimes involving paying taxes and other things. . According to the rules of evidence this attorney acted illegally by violating my privacy that should also been afforded me, because I was the guardian of his client. The IRS agent later claimed to have gotten a court order to obtain the records, but it turns out that the records where never officially entered in to the court proceedings against my friend. I feel that if the IRS agent wanted to view the records that I turned over to the attorney in confidence , that the IRS agent needed to get a search warrant or order to even view the records. This IRS agent had nothing to do with my friends case or the charges against him. The IRS agent just happened to be a friend of the Prosecutor, who actually blocked the evidence from being entered in as evidence in my friends trial claiming that the records were irrelevant, even though a witness for the state had already testified as having knowledge of the records. Now I am facing 5 different felony charges because this nosy IRS Agent, that the Prosecutor, who I use to date got after me. What can I do about this I recently found out that the Attorney had made a big mistake by sharing the communications that I gave to the attorney. So far my legal bills are over $10,000 dollars and I would not be in trouble at all if this attorney would have conducted themselves ethically, and even the Prosecutor step over the line, by sharing the records, with a third party that really had no reason to be looking at my personal business records. I believe that the attorney, prosecutor and the IRS agent have seriously violated my rights. It has been two years since this happened. Is there a statute of limitations on this kind of thing, or does that start when you discover that something was done wrong against you. Your thoughts would be appreciated . Thank you...... Attorney Client Privilege does extend to a guardian of the client of the attorney according to the rules of evidence. Also please note that this IRS agent excess my personal business records without having my permission or having any court order or search warrant to do so. The IRS agent made a search and seizure and then went and ask for a court order and warrant, which is contrary to proper procedure. The only reason he was summoned to court was to hassle me , because of my ex the Prosecutor wanting to pay me back for dumping her..
