  REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS:

  Successfully pursued and litigated numerous complaints before the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) on behalf of an electric utility against other electric utilities to enforce territorial restrictions and to prevent unfair promotional practice violations, resulting in the transfer of service to two residential subdivisions, two medical office buildings, an insurance building, a construction site and other residential and commercial customers. Successfully defended electric utility in several complaints before the LPSC by other electric utilities regarding territorial restrictions and claims of violations of LPSC orders, achieving dismissal of three significant complaints by way of summary proceedings. In 2006, obtained authority for clients to operate as common carriers of waste intrastate in separate contested proceedings before the LPSC. These were the first two instances in many years where the LPSC granted such authority in contested proceedings. In 2007, successfully defended appeal of an LPSC order on behalf of an electric utility, briefing and arguing the matter before the Louisiana Supreme Court. Washington-St. Tammany Electric Coop., Inc. v. Louisiana Public Service Commission, 959 So. 2d 450 (La. 6/29/07). In 2008, represented an electric utility in leasing a municipally-owned electric utility, pursuing referendum authority and governmental approval and drafting all documents and transactions related to the lease required for its approval. Advised an electric utility regarding issues related to the negotiation, drafting, and interpretation of numerous municipal franchise agreements. Negotiated with existing LPSC-certified carriers to obtain authority for over 30 clients seeking LPSC authority to operate as common carriers of waste intrastate in Louisiana. Successfully represented two clients in separate contested proceedings before the LPSC to obtain authority to operate as common carriers of waste intrastate in Louisiana over the objections of existing LPSC-certified carriers, defending the order of the LPSC in one of these matters before the Louisiana Supreme Court. Vacuum Truck Carriers of Louisiana, Inc. v. Louisiana Public Service Commission, 2009 WL 1423348 (La. 5/5/09).

Need advise from a employment law attorney...... I sent an email to the CEO, then in one month I am a part of a Reduction In Force. My e-mail stated my concerns over the male that was hired as manager (my same job) a year and a half ago. I said I know that the company has only one alloted FTE for my position and that he made $10,000 more annually that I and I would like to be paid the same salary. FYI, I worked in the Health Care Industry for over 40 years, part of that time (12 years) was spent researching Health Care plans for my Company's employees. Premium costs rose every year and that was 20 years ago. The balance of those 40 years was spent working directly in a Hospital. Hospitals must provided care for all patients, be they rich or poor, with or without Health insurance and be it for a simple cold or a heart attack. As many uninsured wealthy people as poor, walked on those bill. The cost of rising health care for the uninsured has been passed on to the insured and self payers for many years through higher premiums, higher deductibles, higher co-pays etc.
