(Caribbean) Can I Change All Documents With My Name?
A Grantor can make either a Revocable Trust (a Trust that can be revoked and changed) or an Irrevocable Trust ( a Trust that, once made, cannot be changed by anyone, not even the Grantor). . Once a person dies, their Revocable Trust automatically becomes an Irrevocable Trust.. Once someone dies, the person no longer "has a Trust". When a person dies, their Trust goes into effect and dictates how their estate is to be handled, divided, used, etc. The Trust is a fancy way of saying "This is what I want done with my things after I die" and "I don't want my estate to go to Probate Court with all of it's Probate costs and I don't want my wishes be made part of the Public Record that anyone can read".. Yes, now that your Grandmother has died, her Revocable Living Trust is now an Irrevocable Living Trust.
