.. . So, my question is whether being yourself has truly helped you. If it has, then why do you think it does? If not, then (please) explain how or why it doesn't.. Oh wow, never thought there would be so many answers. :O. This'll be hard to choose a best answer. XD. Note: It seems that I have more than one 'me' as the transition wasn't hard. It might be me going through a phase that somehow changes people. Puberty changes a voice, doesn't it...? :P.

Are you employed by this non-profit organization? Have they paid you and the other authors for the time spent writing the book? In that case, the book most likely belongs to them. If not, they shouldn't be able to change anything without your say-so.. . Did you (or anyone else) pay the ghost writer for their work? In that case, they should not require any royalties.. . Is the book being published and distributed in the traditional way (in that case the publisher should be working out a contract with you all) or via a self-publishing company?. . If the four (?) of you have casually got together for no money and with no written agreement, it belongs to the four of you and you need to work out between you if everyone deserves a fair share or if it should be split differently. You also need to clear up the rights of the organisation. You've done it 'for' them - does that mean they profit, or do they benefit purely from the existence of the book somehow? Did they ask you to do it? For free? Or did you do it then offer it to them somehow? It all sounds very shady to me.... . As authors, you should make sure you are paid reasonably for your work. Since this is for a charity and is unlikely to be the next bestseller, you probably can't expect much money at all, but you shouldn't let anyone walk all over you either. If you have already been paid for the work by your employer, there's not really any reason to expect anything else.. . Please, get the advice of a lawyer. :)

I've been observing something locally of late - an insect has came to the area recently and become a nuisance to many people in the area.. . Thinking about the opportunity, I've thought a lot lately about writing an article to some local newspaper companies with a sample to see if they want to publish it. However, I really have no experience in the publishing business. I'm a college student pursuing Information Technology, a totally unrelated field.. . I have access to a lot of information about the insect to write about, but the question is how should I present myself to an editor? I know I will need a good cover letter, but I can't really cite journalism experience for instance because I have none. Also should I ask for a price or do it as volunteer work? Can I likely even get it published since journalism isn't my field? Surely it's worth a shot to get published at least, right?. . I've been doing a lot of brainstorming on this and feel like I need advice on this. Suppose you observed a local event in your area and you know that a newspaper would find it interesting - what would you do, if anything? How would you present yourself to an editor?.
