  • Lawyers Dedicated to Elder Law

When attorney Leo Cushing founded the Cushing & Dolan law firm in 1984, the lawyers focused on tax and estate planning issues for families and businesses. As our law firm grew, we noticed other issues were causing families great concern: long-term care and other matters associated with aging.

Serving the Elderly and Their Families throughout Massachusetts

The facts are clear: More than 43% of people over 65 will spend some time in a nursing home. How can the family prepare for that eventuality? Too many elderly people see their assets wiped out by long-term care. Because we care, the Elder Law Centers attorneys and staff focus on helping elderly people and their families.

Because our law firm cares, we offer:

High quality legal services at a reasonable costLawyers who understand financial issues as well as legal issues (Leo Cushing is a CPA as well as an elder law attorney.)Estate planning and Medicaid planning tailored to the circumstances and needs of your familyLong-term care planning that protects assets and provides necessary care

As children in their 40s and 50s seek ways to care for their parents, as seniors in their 70s and 80s seek ways to preserve their heritage, as families seek ways to assure older relatives are treated with dignity and respect, the Elder Law Centers are here to help and advise:

OK, here's the thing. When I was like 2 my mum changed my surname to my step-dads when they married - I didn't get a say in this obviously! My mum has since split with my step dad and I want to change my surname back to my real dads surname. I have a birth cert. with my real dads surname and a birth cert. with my step-dads surname, strange I know! There is loads of conflicting advice and I want to know the best way to change my surname back to what is was. I know you can use the deed poll to do it, but I heard you don't have to pay, plus the fact, I still have my original birth cert.....Its confusing...please help!. Cheers for your answers - I'm 27 by the way! Also, do you think its worth making sure it is all legal and gets put in the National Archives just in case anyone wants to look me up in years to come?. Thanks again.
