At King & Frisch, P.C., we take a consultative approach with our clients, identifying their specific legal issues and how we can help. We focus on their best interests and encourage practicality versus principal at our law firm. Not all landlord-tenant, homeowner association or estate planning disputes require resolution by a judge in a courtroom. "Sending a message" to the opposing side can be costly, both in time and money.

Step1Order extra certified copies of your marriage certificate for agencies that require originals before allowing you to change your name on documents, such as the department of motor vehicles. . Step2If you're a man changing your name at marriage, check your marriage certificate to see if there is a space to indicate a name change. If not, you will need court papers to legally change your name. Contact a local attorney to find out the procedure for name changing in your state. (This is not necessary for women.) . Step3Request a new Social Security card or cards reflecting the name change. Call the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213 to obtain forms and instructions. . Step4Make an appointment to visit the department of motor vehicles for a new driver's license. Ask in advance which documents you'll need to bring in order to certify the validity of your name change. . Step5Obtain and complete a Passport Amendment/Validation Application. Send this along with appropriate fees, your current passport(s), and a certified documentation of your name change (such as a certified copy of a marriage certificate or court papers) to the nearest passport agency. . Step6Order replacements for checks, business cards, credit cards and other documents that contain your old name. . Step7Call employers and schools (if you are a student) to let them know your new name, and ask them to change it in their records. . Step8Change your name on your car registration, with your insurance and mortgage companies, and with your frequent-flier program. . Step9Contact the post office, utility companies and registrar of voters. . Step10Make the announcement to friends and family (ideally to your in-laws first), using stationery or thank-you cards with your new name printed on them, or order name-change cards designed for such an occasion. .

If one person is unable to be present to sign and deal with all the negotiations and paperwork, they will have to assign power of attorney to someone else to deal with the real estate transaction on his/her behalf.

My husband & I live with my elderly mother and the Doctor said she does not need to be living alone, though she wants to suffercate us and say she can't be alone. This has been going on for about a year and I am at my ends with it. She wears a monitor around her neck & she can walk all over the house & use her own pot! Her medicine dosages are laid out in vials when to take them. I told her that if she wants someone 24 hours a day, that we could get it (nursing home), for we don't finanically have it & she is just being selfish as she has been for the last 18 years!, when my first grandchild was born. Please send me links to verify these phrases or something, thanks. . Well, so far, none of the first 3 answers answered the question as far as "What does living alone" mean? To me, it does not mean, 24 hours of being with a second person. I have been there for my mother for 40 years, because she is so demanding.... my sister & brother have deserted us, she use to be my best friend. When my 2nd grandchild came, in 1990 she immediately said, I didn't have time for them, I have her to take care of. I have went through 10 years of helping her with her Alzeimher's husband, then & since it has been her. I have foceably had to move in with her because of my siblings deserting us & my husband's disabilities & age with no income. I have to work 40 hours a week @mnimum wage & have no time for myself. Again, two doctors said "she can't LIVE alone, they didn't say "she couldn't be alone. Can someone give me an medical opinion on this. Thanks. Yes, Karyll, I would love for you to chat too, you are most interesting to me and seem to understand helping me understand. I will look at your links (at work right now) and continue when you are ready, I will respond, thanks again. My name is spelled unusual also, I like your spelling, mine is suppose to be pronounced Carolyn, but spelled as Carelen, I look at it as elen, Carelen..
