Keep writing :)

My ex. (let's call him John) can't seem to stick to any agreements we make without later altering them to better fit his needs rather than his soon to be child's. John has not yet been around during my pregnancy at all. Though I have managed to keep in touch.. Our original agreement was that John wanted to see the baby once a month, so that the baby would know who his father was, and that John didn't look like a dead beat who didn't care.. The baby is due in Feb. and John is moving out of state and across the country in May. . Right now John has changed the once a month agreement we made, to maybe one or two months might go by while he is still in this state, and then he might come over for a couple hour visit 2 or 3 times the next month possible. He works fast food, and enjoys party's with his friends, and wants his time to be his time when he has it. I am not so much for that. I think it would be harder for the child, later in life, to only see his Dad in such a limited way, and when John moves, John informed me he would only be by maybe 4 to 6 times a year. And maybe take the baby for a weekend, and stay in a hotel while he is up.. . What I would like to work out is a set day each month, Say every month on the 15th, John is welcome to come see the baby, and spend time then. Rather than trying to work through his schedule and mine, make it a set thing, so we both can work our schedule around that, and John would be more present, than if he just made an appearance here before he leaves this state. When he leaves this state of course he won't be able to make it by as much as that. But I would like the agreement to stick, so if Johns parents want to visit, that is their day as well. . We all do not get along, and John has got himself in some trouble over drinking, and has been arrested 3 times for it, lost his drivers license for a year, got himself in some major debt that he has had to go to court about, was on probation, and has started drinking again since he has turned 21yr. . I want what is best for my child. I don't want this baby growing up in a world like that, with such an irresponsible person in his life, that seems to be causing more let downs right now, than anything else.. . How can I get something wrote up and legal for visitation, and what would you do maybe differently?.
