I am sending a letter to a mother and son, I don't want to say "Dear Mr. and Mrs. LastName" because they are not married, but I don't want to say, "Dear Mrs. LastName and Mr. LastName" because that's too long. Any suggestions?.

Please give advice about my resume.... ?

Legal question, read on.....power of attorney and kids...?

Argument: Homosexuality is a sin! We cannot endorse or approve of sin!. Rebuttal: We do not live in a theocracy. What your religion or any other calls "sin" is irrelevant to the law of the land. Otherwise we'd be arresting people right and left for fornication and working on the Sabbath, wouldn't we? Read the First Amendment and check back with us.. . Argument: Marriage is a religious institution! You can't change what God has decreed!. Rebuttal: Then I guess you won't mind if all those state and federal benefits to married couples go away, will you? There goes automatic hospital visitation and the automatic right to make medical decisions when your spouse is incapacitated. There goes exemption from estate taxes. There goes the right to have a foreign-born spouse remain in the country. There goes your right to easily adopt your spouse's children from a previous marriage. There goes your ability to put your spouse on your insurance plan. There go more than a thousand other state and federal benefits to being married. Or are you willing to recognize that legal marriage is separate from religious marriage? After all, atheists get married all the time, without even looking at a priest or pastor, let alone having one pray over them, and it's still every bit as legally binding as a Christian marriage.. . Argument: Heterosexual marriage is a tradition! You can't go changing thousands of years of history!. Rebuttal: Marriage has changed numerous times over the course of those "thousands of years of history." Polygamous marriage used to be accepted in numerous cultures, including in the Bible. Wives were once considered the property of their husbands, and unable to own property in their own name separate from him. It used to be legally and socially acceptable to beat a woman if you were married to her, or rape her. Marriages used to be arranged by the families of the spouses, who in some cases might never have met before the wedding. As little as a few centuries ago, the idea of marriage for love was the stuff of fairy-tales, not reality. Marriage has changed repeatedly over the years to become more equal and more loving. This is just one more step in a long series of changes.. . Argument: Same-sex couples can't have children! Children are the whole point of marriage!. Rebuttal: If children were the point of marriage, then there would be a fertility test before you were issued a marriage license. Infertile couples and elderly couples (with post-menopausal women) would be barred from marriage. Sterilization procedures like tubal ligations, hysterectomies, and vasectomies would be illegal for married couples who had not yet reproduced. And yet, that's not the world we live in. Even perfectly fertile couples who simply choose not to have children have completely valid and legal marriages, just like all those couples who cannot conceive. Besides, we live in the twenty-first century. Sperm donors and surrogates allow same-sex couples to reproduce biologically, and many same-sex couples adopt children in need of loving homes and families.. . Argument: Children need a mother and a father of opposite sexes to develop properly! Think of the children!. Rebuttal: First, again, marriage and reproduction are unrelated
