  • Mr. Shipers, a founding and senior partner of Shamy, Shipers & Lonski, P.C. was born on July 10, 1959 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey where he earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English in 1981. He graduated with honors from the New York Law School in 1984, and has been admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey and the U.S. Federal District Court of New Jersey since 1984. Mr. Shipers received an American Jurisprudence Award in 1984. He was first nationally published in 1985 in the Medical Trial Technique Quarterly. He was co-author of "Survival in the Middlesex County Courts" in March 1988. He was appointed to the Criminal Practice Committee of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex County, by the Presiding Criminal Assignment Judge, the Honorable Robert Figarotta in 1990. Mr. Shipers has extensive experience as a law practitioner. He has served as the Assistant Municipal Prosecutor for the Township of North Brunswick (1984-1986); Special Counsel for the Borough of Sayreville (1985); Assistant Township Attorney for the Township of North Brunswick(1986-1992); Municipal Prosecutor for the Borough of South River (1992-1995); Conflicts Prosecutor for the Borough of Sayreville (1993-1995); Municipal Prosecutor for the Borough of Helmetta (1995-2000); Municipal Prosecutor for the Township of East Brunswick (1997-2000); and Public Defender for the Borough of Jamesburg (2001-present) Mr. Shipers memberships include: Middlesex County Bar Association; New Brunswick Bar Association; New Jersey Bar Association; American Bar Association; Association of Trial Lawyers of America-New Jersey. Mr. Shipers concentrates his practice to the areas of serious personal injury,?criminal prosecutions and defense,?municipal law, appellate practice, real estate acquisitions and?sales and land use. Mr. Shipers has been directly involved in land development and redevelopment projects within Monmouth County, New Jersey. Mr. Shipers has served as the Chairman of the Belmar Harbor Commission (1999-2005). Therein he participated in the redevelopment and restoration of a 250 slip Municipal Marine complex. Mr. Shipers the founder and former president (1999-2004) of the Friends of Belmar Harbour, a non-profit corporation, that has afforded economically disadvantaged youths ranging between the ages of 8-18 the opportunity to learn and experience sailing as a sport and learning platform. Through his efforts to date, more than 1000 students have participated in this program. The Friends of Belmar Harbour in conjunction with the Boro of Belmar has raised in excess of $1,000,000.00 via public and private entities for this cause. Mr. Shipers donates his time to oversee a National Tourism effort by the Boro of Belmar in order to promote national transient boating(2002-present).
