Unless there is a time limit on the contract then their signing and sending it back constitutes an acceptance not an offer. If they sent it to you by mail, they would need to choose a faster way to get in touch with you to rescind the acceptance. That's the mail box rule.. . Edit: Here's a question. Unless you sent it certified mail or some other signature required way, how would you know what date they received the contract? And yes, if you want them to accept the same date, you need to stipulate that in your offer, otherwise it would be a reasonable amount of time and there aren't many circumstances when a judge is going to consider same day as a reasonable time frame.
