does a person with POA see to it that a living will is carried through - or are they legally seperate things?.

Wow, you have chosen a tough field.. . Unless you have connections, it is really going to be tough.. . YOU CAN develop connections, but it takes a great deal of work.. . Quite honestly, the easiest way to go is to either become a seamstress or find one. Sketches are nice, but you need to show product. You will also need a model, unless you are wanting to model them yourself.. . From there, you make personal appearance at local boutiques and try to sell them your designs. If you can't find a buyer, try to find one who will accept a few pieces on consignment. You will be competing against established major companies, so personality and confidence will be important. If you get one boutique to accept your designs, do not attempt to get another boutique in the same town to sell them, because the first one will drop you when they get that call, "how are ?'s designs selling for you?" You may have to travel to a number of towns to get placement. The boutiques will tell you what sizes they would be interested in, and it won't be all size 2s, so just make up a few show pieces that fit the model, and prepare to have the pieces they want made when you get an order.. . Get a fashion leader to wear your designs in a very public environment. If their is a popular girl singer, offer to design something special for her, either for free or at a reduced cost(no design fees, and you may have to pay part of the cost of fabric and seamstress) provided she credits you.. . Maybe just do some tops, and wear them out, and when someone notices, tell them you can design something for them. Don't expect to make a lot of money at first,, and you may need to find a very good seamstress who will work with you. They can also give you advice about different fabrics, and what the benefits and shortcomings are. At this point, at least have your friends pay for the fabrics and seamstress. If you can get some buzz going about your designs, you will find that you get more commissions.. . After you get some items in boutiques, you may be in a position to go to market. You can rent a small stall at a fairly reasonable market. New York and LA aren't the only ones, Find out where the fashion markets are. Your designs would have the best chance at the market closest to you. Dallas and Atlanta are big in the South, but there are many markets.. . Local arts and crafts shows are also a good place to develop your marketing skills. Don't limit yourself to particular shows, because you don't know where it will take off. You are going to need some time and money, and will probably need a day job to afford to get your works in a form that is marketable.. . You might want to place this in another category besides singles and dating.

update: yes, you do need to be 18 or the court won't even accept your petition for a hearing. Without a hearing the judge will not grant your petition. sorry, it sounds like it's important to you but without your parent's permission it's not possible. My ex - husband wouldn't allow us to complete change my daughters last name so we hypenated it but she only uses her new name. Also, for years she had people call her the "new" last name even in school, it just wasn't her "legal" name until we went to court. Good luck.

How do I change my name?. You can change your name without legal proceedings merely by using the new name. This name change must not be used for fraudulent purposes or it will not be effective. If you are married, you can choose to keep your surname or take your spouse's surname. Oregon also has a more formal process for changing names for those who prefer proof of their new name. The rest of this topic discusses the formal process. If you are under 18, you may petition for a name change, but written notice must be given to your parents or legal guardian. You may need to have your parents' consent. You also may need to have an adult guardian appointed for the purpose of changing your name. A name change for a minor child does not create an adoption. . How long does it take to change a name?. It takes about one month from the filing date of the initial documents. This time period varies from county to county. . What is required to change a name?. Usually, seven documents are needed for a single adult name change that must be prepared and given to the court. More documents will be needed if you are under 18 or wish to change the names of your entire family. A brief hearing may be required, during which the judge reviews the documents and asks some basic questions. . Who should prepare the papers?. If you need help, you have several choices. You can hire a lawyer to prepare and file the legal documents that must be given to the court. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer and need legal help, there are agencies that will give you instructions and forms.. . If you want to prepare and file the legal documents and represent yourself in court, you should refer to the relevant sections of the Oregon Revised Statutes and to both the Uniform Trial Court Rules and the Local Trial Court rules of the county in which you are applying. . Where can I get the legal forms?. The necessary documents can be obtained from Stevens-Ness Stationary in Portland and at some office supply stores and bookstores. Some court clerks? offices and law libraries also may have forms or sample documents.. . Petition for change of name
