Although it may vary from state to state, in Florida at least, medical records are required to be kept for 10 years following the patient's death. After that, they can be destroyed. . They may not be available to family members without a power of attorney or court order. Medical information is confidential and doctors are not required to share it with family members

How can one change their last name in Massachusetts? Is it difficult?

[Signatures and date(s) of signing]. [Acknowledgments]

Ever since i was a little kid I've always wanted to my husband to take my last name. Well now im grown and engaged but my husband is in the Navy, and I'm not sure he would be up to the idea anyway. However he is also aware of how attached I am to my name. So my question is can i take his last name as my middle name and continue using my maiden name? Or is it possible for him to change his middle/last name to my maiden name?. @love life -- I told him and asked him to think about it and tell me what he thought, and then we would decide. I'm just looking for some ideas here.

This reminds me, please check to see what your date of first delinquency (DOFD) is on your report and then check to see what the SOL is in your state. In Texas it's 4 years, so I would add 4 years to the DOFD to determine when the SOL expires. This is VERY important when dealing with collections.. . Lastly, whatever you do...make sure you have everything in writing first. Do not give them any money until you have a written letter from them with any agreements that you have made. I would do everything through the mail and wouldn't even talk to them on the phone. Collections are notorious for pulling fast ones over the phone and before you know it you are giving them your bank info.. . Paid collections do absolutely nothing for your credit score. They have the same affect as an unpaid collection. I'm not suggesting that you don't pay them though. If the debt is yours then you should take care of it. However, there are ways to do it so that your score does improve. If in the end, the PFD doesn't work...settle and pay them. Yes, it won't improve your score but lenders will look at a paid collection much more favorably than an unpaid collection. Trying to get it deleted won't hurt though :). . Good luck :)
