A: The quick answer to your question is "Nobody can be made responsible for someone else just because they have been named as an agent in a power of attorney document.". . You generally do not become "responsible" for someone when you are named in a Power of Attorney (POA). Here's an excerpt from an Illinois Short Form Power of Attorney that describes the "duty" one has under a POA:. .
