  • Prior to joining Barket Marion Epstein & Kearon, LLP, Donna Aldea served as Counsel for Special Litigation in the Queens County District Attorney’s office for five years and as an Assistant District Attorney for almost 15 years. Ms. Aldea brings extensive experience to Barket Marion. She has handled complex litigation in the U.S. Supreme Court, the New York Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the Appellate Division, Second and Fourth Departments, and the New York State Supreme Court.? Beyond this, Ms. Aldea’s work has shaped New York and federal law. She briefed and argued several of the state’s seminal right-to-counsel cases in the New York Court of Appeals, including People v. Hilberto Ramos and People v. Terrill Grice, which defined the point when a suspect’s indelible right to counsel attaches under New York’s Constitution, and People v. John Taylor, in which she litigated the constitutionality of the state’s death penalty statute.?? Similarly, her arguments have helped define the parameters of post-conviction review on federal habeas corpus, often addressing important issues of first impression in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.?In her role as Counsel for Special Litigation in the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Aldea developed and litigated many novel and controversial legal issues, including constitutional issues stemming from “John Doe” DNA indictments, the admissibility of expert testimony regarding shaken baby syndrome, the applicability of the emergency exception to the warrant requirement, the constitutionality of recording and admitting prisoners’ telephone calls into evidence, the viability of Second Amendment challenges to gun possession charges, the scope and breadth of judges’ inherent authority under the Judiciary Law, and the constitutionality and ethics of pre-arraignment interrogation programs. In 2012, Ms. Aldea was the recipient of the Thomas E. Dewey Medal, awarded each year by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York to an outstanding assistant district attorney in each of the city's five District Attorney's offices and in the Office of the City's Special Narcotics Prosecutor, as well as St. John's University Law School's Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award, which is presented in recognition of excellence in teaching by an adjunct faculty member. She has also received the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation's Board of Director's Award for Outstanding Advocacy in 2008.

Ms. Aldea is also an Adjunct Professor at her alma mater, St. John’s University School of Law, and is a highly sought after speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars. She will head the Appellate and Post-Conviction group, and serve as Counsel to the firm. She is based in the firm’s Garden City office at 666 Old Country Road.

lawyer Aldea, Donna Reviews

im 15, my biological father has not seen me since i was a couple months old, and has never made much of an effort to make contact. . (however my mom told me that he had no rights over me, and shared custody over my brother and sisters, and then she told my step dad its the other way around so i don't know what the custody agreement is. and he did buy me a phone but he wouldn't reply and he kept changing numbers and then stopped texting so yeah). anyways my mom married my step dad and took his surname, i still have my bio-dads last name and my step-ad wants me to change my surname to theirs. so we got bio-dads number off my sis and contacted him. they talked about it with him but he was mucking them round (and i did talk to him briefly and he had me in tears) yet he wont give consent to change my name. he said it would be 'loosing apart of him' but he's never had anything to do wit me. we said that it'd get him out of paying child support 3years early but he said no. then he said why don't i just change my name by depol. cant till 18, and if he wont consent why say to do it by depol? why wont he let me change my name? is there any way i can do it without his consent? at the moment im just using their surname and put my bio-dads surname on anything legal. i dont see ho i 'wont be his' considering im not 'his' i is and he didnt leave...hewas abusive and we went into womans refuge. . i'd wonered about taking oth names, thanks i will look into it.. i canno write him a letter because i d no know where he lives or anything i dont want to talk to him. my bio-dad is known as "that wanker who technically your father" or by his first name, ad my stepdadi call by his first name.. i did tell him he's not like my father has noting to do with me etc. . he just arguedand we went round in circles for about 20minutes and he had me in tears he really upset me. now i dont want to talk to him..

I have to come up with 2 letters as noted above. I have 2 people who will write them for me, but not sure what should be included. This is for the USA Border Protection Agency, needing to know if they are looking for something specific? Canadian applying for the USA Waiver.. . I have searched the internet and can't really find information on what I am specifically looking for.. ANY help or examples would help, thank you.. 2ND REPLY BELOW, thanks for the site, but it does not help me. it's a character / reputable reference letter I need and this waiver is not the type of waiver that it is.. NOTE - I have to also in my own words explaining the circumstances of each arrest. So I give in detail what lead up to the arrest? Why I did it or what ever????. . I am a bit confused on this. thanks.

Looking for a sample letter of church membership resignation. Does anyone know where to find one? Thanks!?

If you live in Massachusetts and can give me information on the health care system there, do tell, please.?

I want to ask for permission to work over the summer, but I don't know how to start it.. . Dear_______. . I am emailing this message to request

I have never done this before and have no idea where to advertise it! I suppose that it would mostly be people from abroad (the States?) but dont know where would be best - I would really appreciate any tips.. . It's a really beautiful apartment (very close the the site) so Im only looking for nice people - it's difficult to think of where to advertise it to get the right people.. . Many thanks - I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help me.
