• John D. Doran was born in Boone, Iowa in 1961. He attended the University of Iowa, where he earned his Bachelor's degree with High Distinction in 1984 and his degree as Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1987, and is now in his 25th year of practicing primarily criminal law. Mr. Doran spent the first seven years of his career as a criminal prosecutor, including as Assistant Polk County Attorney, and First Assistant Warren County Attorney. many years ago i bought a mare off a bloke who buys and sells horses, and the horse has the same name as mine (he just named all the horses after the person who was coming to inspect them) and ofcourse, i wasnt able to find out what her name was before the man owned her, so i needed to change it.. the best way to get your horse to accept the name change is... call out her new name everytime you want to feed her... if you have a feed scoop, put pellets in it an call your horse by her new name... she'll come when you call out her name... because she thinks she's been getting fed... thats the only way i've ever got an old horse to respond to a new name.

All that being said I congratulations, I hope everything with your labour goes well, and that breast feeding is a success. Some of my best memories of when we first brought my son home are of the bond created as we breastfed. I wish you luck.. . ----. Edit: Sorry forgot some practical advice. Buy breast pads and nipple cream. VERY important. The best nipple cream is Lansonish and I liked the reuseable gerber brand pads. Although for the first little bit after your milk comes in you will probably want disposable pads because it's one less chore you have to do, and you will soak through them quickly haha. The less wash to do the better. For disposable pads I like the Johnsons brand. They weren't very bulky and they had a sticky tab on the back that stuck to the bra so they didnt slip around. Change breast pads often even more so if your nipples crack as this reduces the chance of infection. You can get both of these items at a drug store, or super market, or wal mart. Just look in the baby section.. . Make sure you get a good nursing bra. I had one bra that the clasp part was hard to undo and I had to use 2 hands. Needless to say this one didn't get work often because it was a pain to put down the baby and undo the bra.

Are you employed by this non-profit organization? Have they paid you and the other authors for the time spent writing the book? In that case, the book most likely belongs to them. If not, they shouldn't be able to change anything without your say-so.. . Did you (or anyone else) pay the ghost writer for their work? In that case, they should not require any royalties.. . Is the book being published and distributed in the traditional way (in that case the publisher should be working out a contract with you all) or via a self-publishing company?. . If the four (?) of you have casually got together for no money and with no written agreement, it belongs to the four of you and you need to work out between you if everyone deserves a fair share or if it should be split differently. You also need to clear up the rights of the organisation. You've done it 'for' them - does that mean they profit, or do they benefit purely from the existence of the book somehow? Did they ask you to do it? For free? Or did you do it then offer it to them somehow? It all sounds very shady to me.... . As authors, you should make sure you are paid reasonably for your work. Since this is for a charity and is unlikely to be the next bestseller, you probably can't expect much money at all, but you shouldn't let anyone walk all over you either. If you have already been paid for the work by your employer, there's not really any reason to expect anything else.. . Please, get the advice of a lawyer. :)
