  • Sarah E. Kennedy grew up in Riceville, Tennessee and graduated from McMinn County High School in 2003. During high school, Sarah was chosen as the 2003 McMinn County Junior Miss and spent much of her time involved in the Athens community. Her high school summers and holiday breaks were spent working as an office assistant for Hiwassee Builders Supply, Inc.

    After graduating high school, Sarah attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While at UTC, Sarah was a member of the university’s prestigious University Honors Program and was a member of the University Honors Council. Sarah was also a member of the leadership team for the UTC Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and she was on the Dean’s List every semester. She graduated magna cum laude from UTC in May 2008 with a degree in Biological Sciences and was awarded Highest Department Honors for her honors thesis titled Choloroplast DNA Analysis of Putative Chestnut-Chinquapin Hybrids.

    In 2008, Sarah was accepted to the University Tennessee-College of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee. While in law school, Sarah was selected as a second-year editor for the Tennessee Law Review, and was chosen as an Executive Editor for the journal in her final year of law school. In addition to law review, Sarah spent a great deal of time pursuing her passion for environmental law. She was selected as a member of UT-Law’s 2010 National Environmental Law Moot Court team and led her team in writing the appellate brief for the national competition. While in law school, Sarah worked as a law clerk for the Solicitor’s Office of the U.S. Department of the Interior and as a National Environmental Policy Act Specialist for the Tennessee Valley Authority. She also worked as a judicial intern for Justices Sharon Lee and Gary Wade of the Tennessee Supreme Court as well as Judge John W. McClarty of the Tennessee Court of Appeals.

    In 2011, Sarah graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee-College of Law. That same year, she successfully passed the Tennessee Bar Exam, was licensed to practice law in the state courts for the State of Tennessee, and joined Jerry N. Estes Law Offices, P.L.L.C. as an Associate Attorney.

i don't know if you know this but power of attorney only gives the appointed person right to make decisions concerning money. (making sure bills are paid, etc) but a living will gives the appointed person the right to make medical decisions for the person who is sick.
