  • Over one hundred years ago, a young man named William C. Gebhardt was admitted to the bar and began the practice of law in Clinton, New Jersey. He almost immediately gained prominence as an aggressive young attorney who took delight in doing battle against large corporations. His professional successes led to considerable local fame and then to politics. He served three successive terms in the State Senate, was a statewide leader of prohibition forces, and was appointed Clerk to the Supreme Court by Governor Woodrow Wilson. As his children, Reading, Philip, and Elinor, came of age, they joined him in the practice of law and ultimately formed the firm now known as Gebhardt & Kiefer.

William C. Gebhardt's career as an attorney was a monument to legal professionalism and dedication to his clients. These attributes led the Hunterdon County Democrat to editorialize on his death in 1929:

"In the legal field, Senator Gebhardt established a reputation that was statewide. He illustrated to a remarkable degree that the small town lawyer need by no means confine his clientele to a small field or cases of little moment, although he was as careful in dealing with the affairs of the small client as with the big one."

In its history spanning three different centuries, Gebhardt & Kiefer has had its offices at four different locations. It is thought that William C. Gebhardt's original office was in the upstairs of the small frame building which still exists at the southwest corner of Leigh and Main Streets in Clinton. He later moved to the upstairs of the building which is on the northwest corner Leigh and Main Street then known as the Clinton National Bank. In 1954 the firm moved to 19-21 Main Street, Clinton. In 1909 the firm relocated to its present facility at 1318 Route 31, Clinton, New Jersey.

About the last Q i asked?

When you change your name does your social security number and everything change with i or will that all stay the same?. . and my final question....my current name is Larry Scott and I want to change it to Kristopher Levi, do you guys like that?.

Where can I find a FREE easy Website to Create with templates?

a letter of resignation where it shows i leave the job doe to circumstances.

They are trying it on. I would sympathise with the estate agent if they had actually found the tenants, but not in the circumstances you describe.. In order to be able to claim a commission that would be payable to them regardless of how you found a tenant, they would have to have an 'exclusive marketing' agreement in place, ie , a contract specifying that they would be entitled to a commission should a tenant be found (by whatever means or whomsoever) during the period when their exclusive contract was in force. They have no contract, therefore they have no claim, but they are chancing their arm and hoping to intimidate you into caving in.. Ask them to show you the contract under which they are claiming the commission. They will not be able to. Then advise them that you are prepared to go to court so that they can answer the same question in front of a magistrate. Chances are they will back off if they see you are serious.

Your name HAS officially changed... with the courthouse you registered your marriage certificate at. So it is ok to sign your married name. Just because the DMV and social security office don't HAVE the certificate yet doesnt mean its not really your name. Be sure to have the actual court papers. That's what makes it your name !
