    Practice

Ms. von Taaffe focuses her practice on issues of e-discovery. Specifically, she works with other attorneys, litigation technology project managers, and paralegals on teams that manage electronic and other documents in large cases and investigations. Attorneys on these teams take a leadership role in the document control process, systematically tracking documents from preservation to collection and through review and production. They work with e-discovery vendors and their review and analytical tools; review documents; train and oversee other firm and contract attorneys who review documents; and partner with project managers to perform production quality control.

Ms. von Taaffe’s experience at WilmerHale is centered primarily on the international aspects of legal cases and transactions that require a highly-specialized expertise in foreign legal languages, legal processes, systems and industry for the analysis, synthesis or translation of foreign language documents. She has translated and summarized Italian contracts, exhibits and correspondence in preparation for an international arbitration involving a cross-border contractual dispute. In the international cartel investigation case of a major transporter, Ms. von Taaffe performed factual background research, reviewed numerous documents and worked closely with other attorneys to draft a draft proffer to DOJ. In addition, Ms. von Taaffe has reviewed and analyzed a variety of legal and non-legal documents in eight languages for production in a civil suit involving a multinational client.

Ms. von Taaffe’s professional background includes over five years of in-depth experience with a range of international law issues, including foreign investment, real estate, commerce, trade and competition. She has performed complex legal analysis and review in eight languages on behalf of a range of international and national government employers or clients, such as the United Nations, the European Commission, the National Law Center, the Mexican Congress, The German Bundestag and the US House of Representatives, as well as law firms, various investment entities, private businesses, individuals and other agencies.

Warnings:. Whatever you do - DO NOT use "JV proposal templates". These are pure garbage, and they will only repel any potential partners from taking you seriously. . JV's are serious business. You actually stand to lose as much as you could gain if you end up working with a shady partner. Be very cautious, and leave no stone un-turned when drafting your agreement - as well as the deal itself.

all kinds of business letters?

Ugh!

In terms of formatting, make sure it is the same as your resume. The standard is 12 point times new roman font, one inch margins all around and single spaced. The format and content should look something like this:. . (Upper Right) - Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address (remove the highlighted hyperlink). . (Upper Left) - Date (5 January 2011). . (Upper Left) - Company Name, Address, Phone Number. . Dear Sir or Madam:. . First Paragraph - "My name is (First Last) and I am applying for the Librarian Helper position. I received your contact information via ....". . Second Paragraph - Talk about your relevant experiences/qualifications that would make you a successful Librarian Helper. Bring up previous work experience if possible.

My friend lived in California. She had no family. She was on disability. As her health continued to fail she was put in a nursing home. An Ombudsmen helped her fill out a living will and a general power of attorney, listing me as the person able to make medical decisions for her as well as all financial decisions for her. She was put on social security, so I know all she had in her account was 2,000 dollars. She died just 2 months after going on SSI. I didn't want the state to bury her in a potters field, so I paid to have her cremated and her remains shipped to me. I did this thinking that I could access her account and pay for her final cost with the 2,000 in her account. I sent in her death certificate and my power of attorney paper work to her bank. They have denied my request, saying that power of attorney expires upon death. Is this true? The power of attorney gave me the power to open/close her account as well as make payments on her behalf. I do have documentation proving that I paid for her cremation. I don't want to profit in any way, I just want to use her money to pay for her final expenses..
