• Dave Wales is the Practice Leader for Jones Day's worldwide Antitrust & Competition Law Practice and has extensive antitrust experience in both the private and public sectors. He represents foreign and domestic clients in a wide range of industries on all aspects of antitrust, including mergers and acquisitions, criminal grand jury investigations, dominant firm conduct, distribution arrangements, licensing, and competitor collaborations.

  Dave has the unique experience of serving as a senior official in both U.S. antitrust agencies. He spent three years at the Federal Trade Commission and, from 2008 to 2009, oversaw all of the agency's antitrust enforcement as acting director of the Bureau of Competition. Dave was involved with many industries at the FTC, including pharmaceuticals, health care, energy, chemicals, defense, retail, consumer products, and high-technology. Major matters handled during his tenure included Whole Foods' acquisition of Wild Oats, CCC's acquisition of Mitchell, lawsuits against Cephalon and Solvay Pharmaceuticals for exclusion payment agreements, and Inova's acquisition of Prince William Hospital. From 2001 to 2003, Dave was counsel to the assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, where he was part of the team overseeing all antitrust matters before the agency, including the Microsoft case, the DIRECTV/Echostar merger, and Northrop Grumman's acquisition of TRW.

  Dave has testified on antitrust policy issues before the U.S. Congress and the Antitrust Modernization Committee. He regularly speaks and writes on antitrust and has had various leadership positions in the American Bar Association's Antitrust Section.

But, I can't imagine working at a big firm or working more than 50 hours a week once I graduate.

I am currently a dish customer.. . I REALLY want out of my contract, but they keep threatening me with a fee for disconnecting.. I understand that there was a penalty for leaving early, but I didn't think I was doing that, until the CSR I talked to told me that I had aggreed to another two year contract by acceptin an HD reciever that didn't work to begin with, and is STILL in the process of bieng fixed (by me, of course - the sent some kit for me to deal with).. . It sucks that they were so dishonest about the contract renewal issue. I WANT OUT!. . I was offered a WAY better deal somewhere else, and I have a question:. . I was told my a freind the there is something under the "fair credit reporting act" that states I only have to pay 10$ a month to the Dish people and it won't affect my credit if I disconnect.. . Even if I pay the penalty (which has changed three times since I called) - I will still save $ over the dish.. . I want OUT! but I don't wanna screw up my credit!. So my question is simple:. Do I only have to pay ten $ a month to avoid problems?. And:. How do you get a straight answer about what they want to charge you? Is there a website or something?. Something in writing?. . PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!. . Every time I call I am put on hold, and told a different story when I get a rep. Any Ideas?. . - Dished-out in Washington..

The purpose of a cover letter is threefold:. . * First, its a way to introduce yourself in a friendly but professional manner. State the job you are applying for, where you heard or saw that the job was advertised, and be sure to show excitement about the opportunity.. . * Second, explain how your prior work experience will apply directly to the job being advertised. If you don't have direct applicable experience, chances are you still have experience which utilizes a similar skill set to the job you are applying for. Be sure to highlight those examples, but keep this brief. Your resume will already include your work experience. This is not the place to describe what you did. Your resume already includes that. Instead, describe some of the results that you achieved on the jobs you worked. Intangibles don't show well on a resume, but in a cover letter, they can be very powerful.. . * Third and last, but certainly not least, solicit additional contact to discuss the opportunity further. Your cover letter and resume do you no good if you can't convince somebody to give you a call back about the job opportunity.

What if she was Married but seperated, never got divorced. She is now terminally ill, and has given power of attorney to her adult son from a previous marriage. She also has a minor son with this husband, that son lives with her. Does the son who she gave power of attorney to, have control over everything even if the husband wants to come back? Or does the husband get it, and get a say to how things are to be runned? since they are married still and have a son? Please help me with this question.. thank you..
