Crazy Hat Days can be fun, and worthwhile! Have you considered making it a profitable, for-charity event as well? ... Such as contributions for a local food bank for the privilege of wearing any hat that day? Or a toy donation? Or socks, hats, scarves, mittens? Or toiletries such as shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste (travel sizes) for homeless or womens shelters.. First, get several other keen volunteers to sign the letter with you, ones willing to make posters for the event and collect (and distribute) the charitable donations. Write up a few sample public announcements for the school's PA system publicizing the event. All of these will help persuade any staff that there is student support behind such a proposal, and that such a worthwhile cause could work.. Is your Guidance Councilor the appropriate person for the letter to go to? In some schools, there is a student government body, in others a school spirit group, in others, a vice-principal would be a better choice - this part is very important. Address the letter to the place where the decision is most likely to be made. (Ultimately, it will be the Principal, of course.). Think of it as a business letter, typed, double-spaced, carefully composed and proof-read. Have someone else read your rough draft for assistance - two heads are better than one. You may use several suggestions for possible charities, but do your research in advance - list contact names and phone numbers for each. (food bank, children's hospital, women's shelter, assistance for the homeless). Then the clincher - your reasons why it's a good idea!. - good for school morale and spirit. - for a very worthwhile cause. - contributing back to society (volunteering for charities). - relief from the grey November days, or a break before/after exams. - potential good publicity for the school (enclose local newspaper number for reporting). . It IS a great idea

DEEDPOL. . Alex goes with Charlie. Maybe even some wicked strong name like Heilbronn or Redman.

I'm a minor and having my name changed.. As of recently, what are the necessary steps? I already have the necessary form filled out, but what now? Where do I send it and what is the official price? I'm hearing $35 and then I hear $180. .
