  • I was born and raised in the Chicago-land area, and will always consider myself a Chicago girl at heart although I absolutely love living in Seattle. I earned a degree in finance from the University of Illinois and started my career as a futures and options auditor. I went on to become a financial analyst for a couple of years before deciding that I needed a career change where I could more directly work with and help people. I attended law school at Tulane University in New Orleans, and am incredibly proud to have lived in such a diverse, rich, and amazing city. The time I lived in New Orleans was a period of time where the city was filled with unfaltering hope, revitalization, and rejuvenation post-Katrina. I will be forever grateful that I was able to call myself a New Orleanian for three incredible years. During law school, I interned at the Cook County Criminal Court in Chicago, and at the Northwest Justice Project in Seattle. After graduating from law school, I worked for the Honorable Judge Julie Spector at the King County Superior Court.

I feel very fortunate to be able to say that I love my job. I love being able to help people as they transition from the familiar to the unknown – to an unknown filled with endless possibility. Nothing brings me greater joy in my work than seeing the evolution my clients undergo from the beginning of their case to the conclusion. I think many people are surprised by their own strength and transformations; it’s thrilling to be a part of their journey! Family law deals with two areas many people hold most dear – their family and their finances. It is a highly emotionally charged area of law, and I enjoy bringing my financial background to the table.? It is my job as an attorney to advocate to the best of my ability for my clients, to educate them on the law, and to listen to them when all they need is an ear.

I love music and am a classically trained pianist as well as a saxophone player.? A huge sports fan, I am always rooting on my Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Fighting Illini.? After living in the incredible city of New Orleans, I am an avid supporter of any and all things championing the rebuilding of NOLA.? ?My favorite activity outside of the office is spending time with my daughter and my husband.? I live with my husband, our daughter, and our four fur-babies (3 cats and pitbull mix).

  • With the uncertainty of the legal process of family law ahead of you, finding an attorney whose personality and philosophy matches yours is the key to a successful outcome for your case. To help you reach a decision, let me tell you a little more about myself, our legal team, and our approach to client service.

Facing divorce issues such as property division and child custody or support is extremely stressful. I understand that and pride myself on being approachable, easy-to-reach, and responsive. Attorneys Monica Kaup Cary, Lucia Ramirez Levias and I are committed to developing supportive relationships with our clients and helping them deal with the emotional difficulties often arising in family law. As a trial lawyer, I am also aggressive in the courtroom with over 20 years of experience.

Prior to becoming an attorney, I was a high-risk labor and delivery nurse at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, giving me experience in highly-charged situations.

Prior to joining the firm in 2004, my colleague Monica Kaup Cary volunteered with VISTA (the domestic peace corps), clerked for a family court judge in Portland, and worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Pierce County.

Prior to joining the firm in April, 2008, Lucia Ramirez Levias volunteered with AmeriCorps, summer clerked at MacDonald Hoague & Bayless in Seattle, and worked as an Associate Attorney at Pacific Law Firm in Seattle.

I always recommend that clients attempt to settle their family differences amicably. If possible, mediation is a very viable solution that works well for many families. If that is your choice, I will help you move through your divorce with as little disruption to yourself, your spouse, and children as possible.

Should you find yourself in a high-conflict divorce or child custody dispute, I have the skills and expertise to help you achieve a workable legal solution. As a trial lawyer, I practiced complex litigation for about ten years before changing to family law. Why the change? I prefer working with people, not insurance companies.

When choosing a family law attorney, you should know that not all lawyers are comfortable going to court, or even willing to do so. I do not shy away from high conflict situations. With years of solid courtroom experience behind me, I will take your case to trial if necessary. I have success litigating cases against very aggressive attorneys and will do so for you if that is what you find yourself up against.

Staying within your budget is important. We do our best to use your resources wisely by relying on a fine professional paralegal staff to gather preliminary documents and do routine research under our supervision. Using the Internet, fax, phone and email streamlines the process, allowing our face-to-face meetings to be personal, productive and pro-active while eliminating the need for costly additional meetings.

We invite you to look around our site and see if the chemistry is right. If you have further questions or want to arrange a confidential consultation, please give us a call. Our waterfront office is located on the north end of Lake Union in Seattle, Washington. We look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve the solutions you seek.

I'm applying for a student exchange program for next year, and I need to get two academic reference letters for my application. Unfortunately, I don't really have any professors that I am very close with or have had more than one class with. Most of my classes are large lectures, and the smaller ones where I can actually talk to the professor is just starting this term.. I still have about a month and half until the application is due, but I am worried that I won't be able to get the reference letters.. Even in courses I have this term I don't have any exams or assignments due until after the application is due, so I don't feel as though I can prove myself academically worthy for my profs to write me a recommendation.. Are professors usually fairly flexible about writing letters of recommendation? The letters aren't anything too important so they don't necessarily have to be great..

I plan on getting a name change soon, considering I can't stand my first name. Anyway, to the point. What exactly is the law for it? I mean, can you change any part of your name ... just the last name? Or? I've been researching information, and found the form, but no actual useful info..

i work in a fast food store for minimum wage, i and around 7 others have no employment contracts, therefore we shouldnt have to give any notice, so can i just make a grand exit and just quit? will my boss be able to come after me in any shape or form for shifts i will no longer do?.

I need an html website template?

I'm a teen and going for my first job. I have no reatil experience but have babysat, won numerous awards, have references, very involved in extraciricular activites. I was told by a friend that a resume and cover letter really make your application stand out amongst the rest. Does anyone have a solid free resume and cover letter model I can use?.

Are you using the word "care" and "insurance" to mean the same thing? Health CARE costs, are how much you spend for medical care. Health INSURANCE costs, are how much you spend on insurance. Two completely different things.. . To cut down on health CARE costs, you don't visit the doctor/dentist as much. You take better care of yourself, and prevent all the preventable diseases caused by things like overeating, underexcercising, smoking, drinking, drugging.
