No, a legal document is usually one filed with the court or giving direction in legal matters (like a will, deed, etc.) But a certified letter is just a letter that has been sent with documentation to prove it was sent. It has no more legal meaning than any other letter.

You know, you can find a free form and try to adapt it, but the bottom line is that you can write an agreement that spells out everything in utter and complete detail (like you will pay him $x amount on x date every month beginning on X date and continuing until the debt is free and clear) "in full and complete consideration of the $5K" you owe him as equity in the marital asset (home located at X) which is now your sole property as the result of dissolution property settlement and the two of you can sign and date it in front of a notary and it is likely the court will accept it.

I'm going for my first interview. I was asked to bring a reference list. I'm thinking to ask my professors to give me a reference (I'm a recent graduate). I'm emailing them to request reference. But I dont know if I should be requesting the "reference letters"? Or should I just say "Can you be my reference"? What's the difference between being my reference and writing me a reference letter? I have only two days left to the interview. I don't know if I have time to ask them to write letters. Please help!.
