I haven't finished my classes yet for Penn Foster High, but when I'm finished I'm planning on going on to their career college, and either I'll be going in to interior design or Floral design (which in my old high school I was in Horticulture, floral, and landscape). So what classes, and what would I be learning, so maybe I could get a head start.

A query letter generally contains the following:. . The name, length and type of manuscript you are sending.. . What your story or book is about.. . Your qualifications if any to write the book.. . A sample chapter.. . Finally, a thank you note to the editor/agent for her/his time and sign off.. . Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) should be included with the query letter. (Sometimes I've been known to put in a postcard that simply asks the person to check off a box:. . ( ) I get a lot of manuscripts. Please be patient, I'll ready yours as soon as I can.. . ( ) I don't read manuscripts by unknown writers. Yours is being returned in your SASE.. . ( ) Wow, I love your query letter and hope I like the sample chapter, too. You'll hear back from me soon!. . ( ) I read it. Send me the entire manuscript and I'll let you know where we go from here!. . Note: I send out all query letters with a delivery confirmation stamp from the Post Office. That way I know the agent/publisher actually received my envelope.. . Best wishes.

Ideas are really a dime a dozen. Everyone has a great idea for a business, book, movie.. . What matters is this... Why are YOU the best person to run this business? It's how you have structured developing this idea that they are going to be most interested in.. . Do you think Google or Facebook or MySpace are really that revolutionary of concepts? Their are tons of imitators. The reason those companies are successful is because they do what they do BETTER than others.. . So show in your business plan why YOU are the best person for them to invest in REGARDLESS of the actual business. If you can do that you are GOLD.. . The Non-disclosure and even a non-compete would be great to get but if tehy are really investors or venture capital guys they see alot of ideas some of which are similar and if they are forced to sign the non-compete, they will probably just pass.. . Remember, it's more about you, than your idea.

I would like to say that standards and software products are different... many companies support open standards.. say for example every company supports W3C standards.. World Wide Web consortium which ensures that certain data transfer techniques remain independent of proprietary software products... the best example being HTML and XML standards... XML standards are laid out by the consortium and is independent of proprietary standards..this makes exchange of data between disparate systems seamless.. that is if I am using a IBM, Microsoft or Oracle software to process XML the methodology used for processing is one and same...
