I have been told by one of my professors that a cover letter is not necessary. But if they ask for one give them one. What is the best way to write a cover letter? I do not exactly have great writing skills. Should I stay strictly business or should I put a little humor and arrogance in it?.

So how old is your brother? Because according to law if he is under age (18 in most states) then he is unable to sign a contract to commit to repaying anyone at all, and no one owes that bill for him because they should have known better than to lend to him. Depending on what area of your town you live in, well I understand that sometimes things could be dangerous, sure a parent could pay a bill if there is fear of whatever. The kid needs to learn he cannot involve his parents in his bad deals. Of course any threat that someone would hurt anyone else and even in trying to get their money back should be reported to the police.
