  • Matt heads the workers' compensation practice group at Martin & Jones. Since he joined the firm in 2006, he has worked hard to secure disability benefits and medical treatment for injured workers. He takes pride in negotiating favorable settlements for his clients, settlements that provide security to families whose futures are jeopardized by workplace injuries.? Matt was recently recognized as Rising Star by North Carolina Super Lawyers 2010.

Matt has significant experience litigating cases before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, the state agency that oversees workers' compensation. He has also successfully represented clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals. In addition to on-the-job injuries, he handles occupational disease claims, particularly claims arising from exposure to asbestos. Matt also handles civil claims that sometimes arise when a worker is injured by a negligent third party.

In the course of his practice, Matt has developed a particular interest in representing workers who have suffered catastrophic injuries - such as serious spinal injuries, amputations, and traumatic brain injuries. Such workers often need significant medical treatment and attendant care for the rest of their lives. Matt has worked closely with doctors and life-care planners to determine the care his clients need and has battled insurance companies to ensure that the care is provided.

Prior to joining Martin & Jones, Matt practiced at one of the largest corporate law firms in North Carolina, where he focused on insurance defense matters, including workers' compensation. Much of his practice involved representing a large manufacturer before the North Carolina Industrial Commission and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. However, while working for large corporations and insurance companies, Matt became convinced that he would rather help people whose lives have been devastated by workplace injuries.

Matt has been practicing law in North Carolina since 2002. He received his undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1995. In 2002, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served on the Georgia Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. He lives in Raleigh with his wife and four young children. When he can find the time, Matt loves to read fiction, biography, history, and philosophy. He enjoys running and is absolutely obsessed with Notre Dame football.

  • Founded in 1982 Martin & Jones has consistently maintained the highest rating assigned to attorneys and law firms. This rating is given based on several criteria: legal ability, ethical standards, professional liability and diligence.

The firm's first cases involved representing textile workers diagnosed with the occupational disease, byssinosis, or "brown lung." By the mid-1980's, the firm began to handle cases involving asbestos, product liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death, despite the difficult and complex nature of such litigation. In 1983 it began its successful work with victims of the Dalkon Shield IUD, which continued for more than fifteen years. Beginning in the early 1990's, Martin & Jones began handling insurance fraud cases as well as litigation arising from the L-tryptophan dietary supplement, tainted blood products, and breast implants.

With a wealth of experience acquired over the past two decades, Martin & Jones is committed to providing the highest standard of representation possible for its clients throughout the state of North Carolina and beyond. This commitment is reflected by the diverse and extensive experience of our attorneys and by the diligence of the firm's staff of experienced paralegals, adjusters, legal assistants and other support personnel. The quality of the firm's service is also enhanced by an experienced administrative staff-including an in-house accounting department - as well as by the implementation of the latest in computer, video and presentation technology.

Martin & Jones?is one of the largest law firms in North Carolina limiting its practice to representation of plaintiffs in tort and insurance claims. The firm - which conducts its business as Martin & Jones - is comprised of 12 attorneys litigating claims in state and federal courts. The firm has offices in Raleigh, Durham, and Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as Atlanta, Georgia, but its practice is by no means limited to these areas. Firm lawyers have represented plaintiffs from more than thirty states in courts throughout North Carolina, Georgia, California, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and other venues.

The types of claims handled by our attorneys are diverse, including: automobile and truck accident claims; insurance bad faith claims; unfair competition; class actions; medical malpractice and other professional negligence claims; fire claims and workers' compensation claims. The firm also handles "complex" litigation, such as: admiralty and aviation claims; defective pharmaceutical claims; "toxic torts"; product liability actions, and unfair and deceptive business practice claims.

As a longtime leader in occupational disease claims, Martin & Jones attorneys have successfully represented hundreds of people both in and out of North Carolina, who have been diagnosed with diseases such as byssinosis, asbestosis, mesothelioma and occupationally-related cancers. Both workers' compensation claims and third-party claims have been pursued on behalf of such workers.

Martin & Jones has also represented individuals, injured by defective products, such as Dalkon Shield IUDs, breast implants, blood products, L-Tryptophan dietary supplements, and numerous toxic chemicals. This work continues with the recent discoveries regarding the medication Vioxx. Furthermore, the firm has represented individuals with traumatic injuries caused by defective products such as automobiles, machinery, scaffolding, power tools, swimming pools, guns, and many others.

Martin & Jones has successfully represented individuals in claims against 30 of the 100 largest corporations in America. We are proud to represent people from all walks of life, and the firm has the experience and resources to aggressively do so, regardless of the size of the defendant.

I guess the bottom line question though is will I need the change of name deed? I'm not sure what the law states on the matter. I'd have to believe the US has record of it already since they have only known me as the name from after the change. .

I want to create a webpage that can allow the teachers / servants of sunday school to log in and add or edit their students information. And keep weekly attendance online. Anyone know if a free template to do something similar?.

I paid an overdue debt from T-mobile to a collections agency (after i verified with T-mobile that this is a legitimate collection). But now i have ANOTHER agency coming after me for the same bill i already paid off, and they will NOT accept that i already paid it! I sent them a copy of my receipt from the other collections agency, but they keep demanding ridiculous things- telling me the other collections agency has to contact them, provide proof of payment and a copy of my statements and 'information (Whatever that means) before they will 'put it under review for deletion'. I have no idea who this company even is but they have already filed something on my credit report- what can i do??? Oh and to specify, the collections agency i paid this bill off with is totally unresponsive now that they have what they want- they will not send any copies of bills and want me to fill out authorization forms for a copy of my receipt, and then will not send me the authorization forms. This is just crazy!.

Next, you need to write a subject for the letter. In this case it would be something like. RE: Job Application (or maybe a reference number).. . Now, you write your letter. Write why you are applying for the job and why you think you would be suitable. Answer any questions they have asked.. . Your closing of the letter can either be one of the following:. "Yours faithfully" - If you begin the letter "Dear Sir/Madam. . "Yours sincerely" - For everything else ie Dear Trevor, or Dear Mrs Shane.. NOTE: faithfully and sincerely ARE NOT capitalised.

I need to add two templates to one single Word 2007 document. Can anyone tell me how to do this.. The problem being that by one of the templates, I cannot add a section break or anything not even a hard return :s.
