  Four generations of Thorp family lawyers have leveled the playing field by helping ordinary people get justice. Isaac's father and former law partner, Bill Thorp, was one of the country's best plaintiffs' personal injury attorneys. Bill started one of the first plaintiff's law firms in North Carolina to help people who suffered personal injuries due to negligence. Widely recognized as "the grandfather" of the North Carolina plaintiff's personal injury bar, Bill also helped create the state's first program to provide free legal services to people of modest means. Isaac's great-grandfather, William Lewis Thorp, served as a judge and mayor in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and his grandfather was president of the North Carolina Bar Association and the city attorney for Rocky Mount.

  Isaac continues the family tradition of fighting for the underdog. After graduating from New York University School of Law in 1986, Isaac joined the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office. Thorp was chosen as one of a few select attorneys to work in the Special Victims Unit prosecuting sex offenders and other predators who victimized women, children and the elderly.

  Isaac later joined forces with his father Bill back home in North Carolina to create the law firm of Thorp, Sullivan and Thorp, which handled large personal injury, wrongful death and other negligence cases. Bill and Isaac also handled land condemnation cases, representing farmers, widows and other property owners who had their land taken by the government through eminent domain. They tried many cases together and won large verdicts for their clients. Isaac also worked for fifteen years with David Kirby, another leading North Carolina attorney, before deciding to found the Thorp Law Firm. "I'm really fortunate to have learned from some of the best trial lawyers in the country," Isaac says.

  Standing on the shoulders of giants, Isaac founded the Thorp Law Firm to provide high-powered legal assistance to people whose lives have been changed by an injury, death, or confiscation of their property. Thorp has been consistently recognized by the leading state and national attorney organizations.
