• Lara Sheikh has practiced exclusively in the area of corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and creditors' rights since graduating from Brooklyn Law School in 2001. Ms. Sheikh has represented numerous corporations and other entities as debtors under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code both as main bankruptcy counsel and as special "conflicts" counsel. She has also represented corporations in cross-border insolvency cases under former Section 304 and Chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy Code. In addition to her core debtor practice, Ms. Sheikh has represented plan investors, secured creditors, trade creditors, landlords, Chapter 7 trustees, mediators, litigation trusts?and official committees of creditors, retirees?and equity security holders in bankruptcy cases.

  Prior to joining Togut, Segal & Segal in 2007, Ms. Sheikh worked at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP (summer associate, associate, senior associate) and in the Chambers of the Honorable Stuart M. Bernstein, former Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York (elbow law clerk, 2002-2004). Ms. Sheikh served on the Board of Trustees of Brooklyn Law School from 2004-2007 and remains active as a volunteer at her Law School. She writes articles and speaks?on bankruptcy topics and contributes her time as an advisor to the New York City Credit Abuse Reduction Education (CARE) Program, which she co-administered from 2004-2010. A Canadian power of attorney is something that other people *in Canada* will regard as allowing another person to make decisions on your behalf. There are no guarantees that a properly executed Canadian Power of Attorney would be respected in other jurisdictions. (In fact, there's no guarantee that an Ontario PofA would be respected in Manitoba, but the requirements are generally pretty consistent in Canada.). .
