I have a daughter from my previous marriage. I recently got remarried and my husband has become dad for my daughter. Since the biological father has made no effort to spend time with my daughter, the court awarded me sole custody. I would now like to legally change her last name so that we all have the same last name. Do I still have to notify my ex husband about the name change if I have sole custody? Please advise.

This is an excellent time to get into the broker market. When times are bad is when most wealth is accumulated. Even if you would have to put your broker license on hold or be a one man office for awhile it is worth it now.. . Once you get your broker license make sure you attend as many marketing seminars or classes you are able to attend. Real estate is a marketing nightmare for those that are floundering. A "cohabitation agreement" is basically an agreement between you and the person with whom you are cohabiting. The best way I can explain it is that it is like a "prenuptial agreement" or "pre-nup" that is entered into between people who are unmarried and do not intend to get married. In the event that you and your girlfriend split up, it would set how property acquired during your relationship is split up. It would prevent a "palimony" lawsuit against you.. . With "cohabitation agreements" as well as with "pre-nups", it is best to have *full disclosure* with you disclosing all financial information to your girl friend, and it is also best that she be *separately represented by legal counsel* -- I am not saying this just to try to guarantee *full employment by lawyers* -- I am saying it to minimize the potential attack against the agreement in the event that you and your girlfriend breakup, or in the event of your death and her making a claim against the estate. There was a messy case in my county "In re: Geyer Estate" in which the court set aside a pre-nup because there had not been full financial disclosure before a marriage and because the wife had not been represented by legal counsel.
