• BIOGRAPHY?

  Bruce Skaug is a native of southern Idaho whose ancestors homesteaded near Lizard Butte in Canyon County. He graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1988 and served for three years as a trial attorney for the Ada County Prosecutor's Office in Boise.

  In 1992, he began civil practice with the Goicoechea Law Office in Nampa with an emphasis on personal injury, wrongful death and workers' compensation litigation.? Mr. Skaug has recovered millions of dollars for his clients in verdicts and settlements and has represented clients from several countries. Member Idaho Trial Lawyers and American Association for Justice, Idaho, Oregon and Montana Bar Associations.

I have an outstanding medical bill, I set up a payment for $25 a month through a law firm. I got a notice saying I did not pay the $25 for the past 2 months, and my wages will be garnished in order for them to recieve payment. I have recipts from BOTH these payments. I paid them with cashier's checks. Today I found out that some one at the law firm cashed my checks for the past two months. I have proof through my bank that this had happened. I would like to sue, but I don't know if there is a lawyer willing to sue another in the state of TN.. To the second asnwer:. . I went to go fax my recipts to the law firm at my bank, and I had asked if someone else possibly cashed the checks, and the bank looked, and printed me out copies of both checks, on the back where you're supposed to sign your name to cash it, it is stamped with the law firms name and adress. The lawfirm says they never even got the checks.. To Quizzard:. . You're an ass. Do you not realize that even though it is only 50 dollars, it is WRONG. Something needs to be done so it doesn't keep happening. Plus, I have proof of EVERYTHING. So, if I won this case, against a lawyer, I would have more than enough to pay off what I was charged for the services..

Assuming the power of attorney was valid to begin with, you can issue a "Revocation of Power of Attorney". If you were not competent when you signed to original power of attorney, it is not valid. Without seeing the power of attorney, the actual authority granted is unknown. A power of attorney can grant only specifically listed powers, of nearly all power you have yourself. Writing a will and granting power of attorney are the only things I no that a power of attorney CAN'T allow someone to do. The power of attorney DOES NOT prevent you from acting in your own name or limit your authority in any way. Being in a psychiatric hospital, on the other hand, may restrict your ability to conduct your own affairs.

Unfortunately there is no simple answer and I certainly do not know a solution. It is clearly becoming a crisis though as costs of health care continue to expand as the average age increases, with the rising costs of health insurance and medications and with the amount of frivilous litigation that occurs.. .
